Two wick sections of differing material are provided in stacked fashion, with a coupler sleeve that can be used to facilitate attachment of the wick structure to a reservoir. One wick section preferably provides control over the rate of dispensing, where the other provides improved thermal resistance and resistance to clogging.

    Abstract: An electrically continuous, grounded conformal EMI protective shield and methods for applying same directly to the surfaces of a printed circuit board. The EMI shield adheres and conforms to the surface of the components and printed wiring board. The shield takes the shape of the covered surfaces while adding little to the dimensions of the surfaces. The EMI shield includes low viscosity, high adherence conductive and dielectric coatings each of which can be applied in one or more layers using conventional spray techniques. The conductive coating prevents substantially all electromagnetic emissions generated by the shielded components from emanating beyond the conformal coating. The dielectric coating is initially applied to selected locations of the printed circuit board so as to be interposed between the conductive coating and the printed circuit board, preventing the conductive coating from electrically contacting selected components and printed wiring board regions. A high viscosity, non-electrically-conductive filler material is applied to printed circuit board regions that have surfaces that are cavitatious and/or which have a highly variable slope. The filler material can be used in conjunction with conformal EMI shield board level coating. The high viscosity, electrically non-conductive filler material substantially covers each cavity such that the covered cavity is inaccessible and that the covered region of the printed circuit board has a contiguous, contoured surface. A pre-manufactured non-electrically-conductive component cover can be mounted over a corresponding component and secured to the printed wiring board. The component cover and printed wiring board surround the component, forming a sealed enclosure. The component cover has a thin cross-section and an interior surface that follows closely the surface of the component. This minimizes the volume enclosed by the component cover. In addition, the exterior surface of the component cover has a low profile, and prevents the conformal EMI shield from physically contacting the covered component. Instead, the exterior surface of the component cover is coated with the EMI shield.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a vane heat engine and in particular to a vane heat engine efficiently utilizing potential energy and having an adjustable expansion chamber wall so that the volume of the expansion chamber is adjustable. The engine has a housing with an inlet and an outlet. A rotor with a plurality of vanes is provided to rotate within the housing. An adjuster is provided for adjusting the location of an expansion chamber wall. The position or location of the expansion chamber wall determines the volume within a plurality of compartments bound by the rotor, the expansion chamber wall and two of the plurality of vanes. The expansion wall can be made of a plurality of members, whereby the expansion wall is flexible along its longitudinal dimension yet strong perpendicular to the longitudinal dimension.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat engine having a housing. A generally triangular shaped rotor can drive an offset crank as it eccentrically rotates within the housing. Two inlets with valves and two exhausts are provided. The volume between each face of the rotor and the housing defines three expansion chambers. Six power cycles are provided (one by each expansion chamber times two inlets) per revolution of the rotor. Each valve controls the length of time that high pressure gas is allowed to enter each expansion chamber. The valves are controlled by a processor and close when enough pressure is supplied so that the pressures inside and outside the expansion chamber are equal when the chamber is fully expanded just prior to exhaust. Gates can provide a mechanical advantage to the rotor by reducing the amount of pressure applied to the back side of the fulcrum.

    Abstract: A chemical mixture for treating biodegradable materials which when subjected to anaerobic decomposition generate environmentally harmful gases such as methane and hydrogen sulfide. The chemical mixture includes chemicals for inhibiting the production of methane and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The mixture may be formed by: (a) combining compound(s) which inhibit the production of methane gas with compound(s) which inhibit the generation of hydrogen sulfide; and/or (b) using one or more compounds which can perform both functions. The biodegradable materials include all types of paper products. A liquid may be added to the chemical mixture to form a solution which may be applied, in any suitable manner, to biodegradable materials at any point during the manufacture of the materials and/or after the biodegradable materials are disposed of and ready for decomposition.
