    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance method for ink jet recorder, and an ink jet recorder using it, in which a stabilized recording state can be sustained for a long term while preventing production of an insoluble component in the ink without increasing the size or the cost of the recorder. SOLUTION: In the maintenance method of an ink jet recorder employing an ink set comprising cyan, yellow and magenta inks where an insoluble component is produced when a component evaporated from at least one ink is dissolved into other ink and a cap 62 being used for sucking ink from an ink set producing the insoluble component is identical to a cap 62 covering the ink ejection opening, a different ink is imparted to the cap 62 following to suction or preliminary ejection of ink containing the insoluble component.
