CONSTITUTION: This display system is provided with an FLCD interface 2 for generating display image data by receiving display information from a host and performing prescribed image information to that information and for outputting the display image data onto an FLCD panel 150 for displaying the generated image data and an FLCD for visibly displaying the received display image data on the display screen according to the display control of this FLCD interface 2. The FLCD interface 2 and the FLCD are mutually connected through a parallel communication medium 310 for transferring the display image data and a serial communication medium 311 for serially communicating various kinds of control data between the FLCD interface 2 and the FLCD and the display control of the FLCD is performed by the serial communication.

A system control part 1212 controls a high-speed serial I/F control part 1206 to send a request to transfer still picture data to the host PC 11, which sends the still picture data to the request source. The high-speed serial I/F control part 1206 expands the received still picture data by a still picture expansion part 1208 into RGB bit map data, which are written to the frame buffer 1210, sent to the display part 13, and displayed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce power consumption and to prevent a sense of incompatibility from being given to a user by preventing contrast, etc., from being changed. CONSTITUTION: In a normal plotting mode, an MPU 10 allows prescribe information to display on a liquid crystal panel P by controlling an information signal electrode control part 2 and a scanning signal electrode control part 3 based on the picture information from a host system 6 and the signal from a thermister 20. Then, when the picture information are not changed for a fixed time, the MPU changes over the mode of this device to a static mode to lower the driving voltage to be impressed on information electrodes via the information signal electrode part 2 and lower the driving frequency of the driving voltage. Consequently, power consumption of the liquid crystal panel P is reduced. Moreover, since the driving voltage and the driving frequency in the static mode are set to specific conditions, the changing of contrast accompanied by the changing over of the mode is prevented. Thus, the user never feels a sense of incompatibility to be generated by the changing of contrast of a display screen.
