Abstract:
A dressing comprising a skin friendly pressure-sensitive continuous or discontinuous adhesive layer (2), which is coated on one side with a non-adhesive flexible polymer film (1a) and which is optionally coated on the other side with a removable release layer (3), said polymer film (1a) consisting of an uppermost layer (4) of a material which is relatively hard, and a lowermost layer (5) of a material which is relatively soft, said lowermost layer (5) being thicker than the uppermost layer (4). The dressing has a low surface friction and a good flexibility.
Abstract:
A urinary incontinence pad for females comprises at least one comparatively flat cushion-shaped absorption body placed between a liquid-impermeable barrier layer on the underside and a liquid-dispersive tissue layer on the upper side and surrounded by a cover of nonwoven fabric material. The absorption body, the liquid-dispersive layer thermoplastically bonded thereto and the barrier layer may as a unitary structure (6) be folded into a configuration of an inverted pleat in which a longitudinal interspace between the top layers (11, 12) facing the user operates as a drainage channel (13) to a subjacent coherent backing layer (10). The absorption body contains a uniform distribution of superabsorbent material and an addition of thermoplastic fibers to obtain a reinforced network structure and said thermoplastic bonding of the liquid-dispersive layer. The product may include a number of absorption bodies with varying concentration of superabsorbent material and such designs may as internal liquid transfer layers include a plane non-folded body of cellulose fibers without superabsorbent material.
Abstract:
A male absorbing incontinence guard comprises a drop collector having a lower and an upper wall part (1, 2) for arrangement below and above the penis, respectively, the lower wall part (1) having a shorter length than the upper wall part (2), and with a free edge (3) defines an opening. Each wall part (1, 2) comprises an absorbing body (4, 5) and, fastened thereupon, a liquid-tight barrier sheet (6, 7). The barrier sheets (6, 7) in the two wall parts (1, 2) extend outside the respective absorbing bodies (4, 5) and are sealingly joined with each other along the side edges (12, 13) and the bottom of the drop collector, whereas the barrier sheet (6) in the lower wall part does not extend beyond the free edge (14) of the absorber body (4) in this wall part. In each of the wall parts the barrier sheets and the absorber bodies may be formed as integral bodies which for the positioning of the sheath form are folded in over themselves at the bottom of the sheath. The incontinence guard may be manufactured in that absorber bodies (27) punched in one piece from a web (28) of absorbing material are positioned across a web (24) of barrier sheet whereupon the web of barrier sheet (24) is folded about a longitudinal folding line (34) before the sealingly connection of the edges of the wall parts (1, 2) and edge cutting of the drop collector.
Abstract:
v mouldable mass of a hypoallergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive for use in connection with an ostomy appliance, said mass comprising: a) 1 to 20 % by weight of a blockcopolymer having a major content of di-block copolymer, b) 5 to 60 % by weight of a tackifying liquid constituent, and c) 1 to 10 % by weight of a waxy constituent has superior quality with respect to cohesion, gives the mass resistance against erosion and at the same time enables the removal of the mass as an integrated unit without leaving residues at the skin.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer or pad for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer or pad having a hole for receiving a stoma, and an optionally separately exchangeable receiving member or bag secured to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the ostomy, said ostomy appliance further comprising a separate sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma, said sealing member being of a hypo-allergenic adhesive and being in the form of a mouldable mass or a ring.
Abstract:
A dressing for covering a portion of the anatomical surface of a living being, said dressing being able to adhere to the skin, the mucosa and/or a wound on any portion of a living being without exposing the skin to a significant stress after application and said dressing showing a permanent deformation created before, during of after application of the dressing and wherein the dressing is optionally covered in part or fully by one or more release liners or cover films to be removed before or during application.
Abstract:
The ostomy collecting system comprises a collecting bag (1) having an inlet opening (4) formed in a bag wall and with surrounding connecting elements (5) for connection with a stoma in a user, and a carrier device (2) for the collecting bag. The carrier device comprises a base plate (6) for fastening on the user and a substantially annular first flange (7) connected to the base plate via a first connecting section (8). The connecting elements comprise a substantially annular second flange (9), which is fixedly connected to the collecting bag via a substantially annular second connecting section (10) and is designed for removable and adhesive connection with said first flange. The first and the second flanges (7, 9) are connected with the base plate (6) and the collecting bag (1), respectively, in such a manner that the outer radius of said second connecting section (10) exceeds the outer radius of said first connecting section (8) by a value which at least equals the total thickness of the first and the second flanges (7, 9). The adhesive connection between the collecting bag and the carrier device is provided by a layer (11) of adhesive applied on said second flange (9) and capable of repeated adhesion with the first flange, and the first and the second flanges are made from a flexible and resilient material. Both the first and the second flanges (7, 9) are formed as discs of cellular plastic material.
Abstract:
A dressing comprising a body facing layer of a thermoplastic adhesive and a carrier film and an absorbent material, said dressing having in itself an outwardly facing convex surface and an inwardly facing concave surface, wherein said dressing comprises a first area facing the wound or skin, said area having essentially three-dimensional geometry and optionally a second area, said first area preferably comprising a hydrocolloid adhesive (7) and a carrier film (8), and said second area essentially showing adhesive properties and preferably comprising a carrier film and a hydrocolloid adhesive (7) and wherein the adhesive in one or both areas is optionally covered by one or more layers (6) to be removed before use.
Abstract:
A collecting bag for human body wastes, particularly a stoma bag, with a bag member formed by two oblong plastic film blanks (1, 2) with joined edges, of which one blank (1) is designed with an inlet opening (3) for connection to a body orifice, particularly a stoma. Between the edge sections (6, 7) of said joined film blanks (1, 2) a narrowed outlet opening (5) is formed, which can be closed by means of a closure clip (8) with a central part (9) attached to one film blank (1) and projecting end sections (10, 11). At least the central part (9) of the closure clip (8) has along at least one of its longitudinal side edges a relatively soft, resilient edge zone (17, 18).
Abstract:
By use of psyllium material as hydrocolloid in a skin adhesive agent or an adhesive paste based on such dispersed in a matrix, one may obtain that the hydrocolloid after swelling forms a coherent gel which even after a breaking up of the matrix to a considerable degree will prevent washing out of the adhesive agent or the adhesive paste due to leaching body fluids. For this reason such an adhesive agent is suitable for securing of and tightening around ostomy bandages, for wound dressings, for securing of devices for collecting urine, wound-drainage bandages, orthoses and prostheses and for protecting skin areas and parts of the body against pressure, impacts and friction; the adhesive paste is suitable for use as an ostomy paste.
