Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a lactone polymer of a narrow MW distribution by polymerizing a lactone through ring opening in the presence of a stannous halide. CONSTITUTION:A lactone (A) (e.g., epsilon-caprolactone) is polymerized through ring opening at 100-230 deg.C in the presence of 0.1-50ppm, based on component A, of a stannous halide (B) (e.g., SnCl2) as a catalyst to obtain the title polymer of a weight-average MW/number-average MW of 1.1-2.0 and an MW of 500-5000.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of an inorganic filler in the obtained polyurethane resin by introducing carboxyl groups thereinto and increases its adhesion to metals, etc., by performing a urethane formation reaction by using a specified lactone polyester polyol, an organic diisocyanate and optionally a short-chain diol. CONSTITUTION:A lactone polyester polyol (A) obtained by addition-polymerizing, by ring opening, a lactone by using a dihydroxycarboxylic acid as an initiator is reacted with an organic diisocyanate (B) and optionally a short-chain diol (C) to obtain a polyurethane resin of a carboxyl group concentration >=0.09meq/g. By using the dihydroxycarboxylic acid as an initiator in the synthesis of component A, one carboxyl group can be exactly introduced into one polycaprolactone polyol and the carboxyl group content in the polyurethane can be freely controlled.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A specific lactone-modified polyamide diol is used as a polyol compo nent and combined with an organic diisocyanate and a chain extender to give a polyurethane which is useful as paint and other products, because it has high heat resistance, flexibility, water resistance and dispersion.
