Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new alicyclic polyisocyanate compound having characteristics such as a high reaction rate with a hydroxyl group, etc., capable of providing a polyurethane resin having high weather resistance such as not yellowing, etc. SOLUTION: This alicyclic diisocyanate compound is shown by formula I (Y1 is a bifunctional aliphatic hydrocarbon, preferably a 1-10C alkylene) such as 3-isocyanatomethyl-5,5-dimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate. The compound of formula I can be obtained by reductively aminating a 3-formylcycloalkane of formula II (Y2 is a bifunctional hydrocarbon) or a 3-formylcycloalkenone of formula III and then isocyanating the resultant substance. The reductive amination is preferably carried out by introducing hydrogen into a reaction system containing the compound of formula II or formula III, ammonia and a solvent in the presence of a catalyst. Consequently the compound of formula I can exhibit high reactivity and be expected as a raw material for a polyurethane useful as a resin, a coating material, an adhesive, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a trimethylhexanediol by one stage reaction by using an inexpensive raw material and catalyst. SOLUTION: A trimethylcaprolactone of formula I and/or formula II is hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. copper-chromium-based or copper-iron- aluminum-based catalyst) to give a compound of formula III and/or formula IV. The trimethylcaprolactone is obtained by subjecting 3,3,5- trimethylcyclohexanone prepared by partially hydrogenating isophorone to Baeyer-Villiger oxidation reaction with a peracid. The amount of the catalyst used is 0.1-30 pts.wt. (preferably 1-20 pts.wt.) based on 100 pts.wt. of raw material trimethylcaprolactone in the case of a complete blender type.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a process for the industrial mass-production of a carbonic acid ester as a bulk chemical from an alcohol, carbon monoxide and oxygen while suppressing the by-production of oxalic acid ester to prevent the lowering of the catalytic activity and enable the use of a continuous reactional process. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst consisting of (a) a platinum-group compound, especially a Pd salt, (b) a weak acid salt and/or halide of copper and (c) a weak acid salt and/or halide of an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal under a CO partial pressure of . The by-production of oxalic acid ester is suppressed, the lowering of the catalytic activity by the formation of scarcely soluble copper oxalate is prevented and the load on catalyst regeneration step is lowered by this process. The lowering of the CO partial pressure is effective for reducing the concentration of combustible raw gas component and enabling the adoption of a continuous reactional process to continuously extract the reactional liquid while continuously charging the raw material liquid into the reactional system.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable continuous use of an industrial catalyst in the production of a carbonic acid ester by the reaction of an alcohol with CO and O2 in the presence of a specific catalyst by regenerating an inactivated and insolubilized catalyst component by heat-treatment and weak acid treatment. CONSTITUTION:A carbonic acid ester is produced by reacting an alcohol with carbon monoxide and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst consisting of (A) a platinum-group compound, (B) a weak acid salt and/or halide of bivalent copper and (C) a weak acid salt and/or halide of an alkali metal or alkaline- earth metal or a catalyst consisting of the components B and C. In the above process, the inactivated and insolubilized catalyst component is completely recovered to the state before the reaction including the compositional ratio of each catalyst component by subjecting the catalyst to the treatment with a weak acid, especially an acid constituting a weak acid salt used as a part of the catalyst component and to the decomposition treatment of the oxalic acid salt at a high temperature. The regenerated catalyst can be repeatedly used to enable the production of a carbonic acid ester under industrially advantageous conditions.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as synthetic intermediate of polymer or medicine and agricultural chemical or solvent by reacting alcohol, carbon monoxide and oxygen at specific condition using cupric halide-based catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Alcohol is reacted with carbon monoxide and oxygen at a ratio of partial pressure of carbon monoxide to partial pressure of oxygen of 0.1-50 and catalyst concentration in reacting liquid of 0.2-2mol/l, at a temperature of 50-150 deg.C and using cupric halide selected from cupric chloride, cupric bromide and cupric iodide as a catalyst to afford the aimed carbonic acid ester. Separating of cuprous chloride during the reaction is able to be prevented by setting a ratio of partial pressure of oxygen to partial pressure of carbon monoxide within a certain range. Besides, concentration of catalyst is enhanced and sufficient reaction speed is obtained even at a temperature below 150 deg.C by high solubility of cupric chloride.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound from a dihydropyran and a diol in a high yield by reacting two specific kinds of by-products produced by a reaction. SOLUTION: A 2-Y-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran of formula I (Y is hydroxy, an alkoxy or the like) or its nuclear substituent derivative is reacted with a dial of the formula; HO-R-OH (R is a 1-10C bifunctional saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon) (preferably ethylene glycol or the like) to give the objective compound of formula II. Further glutaraldehyde (GA) of formula III as one by- product is reacted with glutaraldehyde bisacetal (BADBA) of formula IV as another by-product to give the objective compound. After the reaction of the compound of formula I and the dial, preferably a low-boiling fraction containing GA and a high-boiling fraction containing GADBA are separated from the crude reaction solution by distillation. Preferably the separation of the GA- containing fraction is carried out at 130-142 deg.C distillation column still temperature under 25-35 Torr column top pressure at 95-119 deg.C column top temperature.
