The lid 2 is composed of a metal mother material 20 of Kovar(R) or the like and a peripheral solder layer 21 formed on the underside of the mother material 20, corresponding to a peripheral metal layer 11 provided in the peripheral edge of the opening of the package 1. When a hermetic sealing operation is carried out, the lid 2 is laid on the ceramic package 1, making its solder layer 21 overlap with the metal layer 11 provided in the ceramic package 1, and the solder 21 is heated and melted by setting a surrounding temperature at the solder melting point of the solder.
