    Abstract: Polymeric ammonium compounds are disclosed which have a silica-type backbone, comprised of units having the formula: (1) in which R1 and R2 represent a group (2) in which R5 is an alkylene grouping and the free valencies of the oxygen atoms are saturated by silicon atoms of further groups (2), if appropriate with incroporation of crosslinking agents, R3 and R4 have the meaning of R1 and R2 or represent hydrogen, an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group or the benzyl group, X represents a 1- to 3-valent anion of a protonic acid which forms stable salts with amine bases and x can be a number from 1 to 3. Also disclosed are processes for preparing the polymeric ammonium compounds and to the use of these materials as ion exchange materials.

    Abstract: The invention relates to complex compounds of rhodium, iridium or ruthenium with a silicic acid-like structure with a least one phosphine ligand, the trivalent phosphorus of which is bonded to silicon via at least one divalent organic residue, the remaining three valences of the silicon building, via oxygen bridges arising from the hydrolysis of functional substituents originally bound there, a inter- or intra-molecularly crosslinked polycondensate. The required charge equalization is effected by an anion. Also disclosed are processes for recovery of the polymeric complexes and their use in heterogeneous catalysis of various chemical reactions.

    Abstract: There is required titanium disulfide of high purity and stoichiometric composition as electrode material for certain types of batteries. With the known process for reacting preheated gaseous titanium tetrachloride with an excess of preheated gaseous hydrogen sulfide at 400 DEG to 600 DEG C., there is obtained a product which is not optimally usable. A titanium disulfide quality of higher purity and stoichiometry is obtained by forcing a deposition of the titanium disulfide on the inner walls of the reactor through regulating the temperature at the reactor walls and/or the residence time of the gaseous mixture. The titanium disulfide can be mechanically stripped off the walls and removed countercurrently to the waste gas stream from the reactor.

    Abstract: The reaction of a gas mixture of hydrocarbon and ammonia according to the BMA process is carried out in a conventional reaction tube in a gas flow whose Reynolds number is above 2300. The process gives higher yields of hydrogen cyanide and thus reduced proportions of ammonia in the product gas.
