Abstract:
An apparatus for diluting and dispensing a liquid concentrate with a liquid diluent to form a use solution wherein the use solution has a higher viscosity than either the concentrate or the diluent is provided. The apparatus includes an aspirator (12), a liquid diluent conducting means (14), a liquid concentrate conducting means (16), and a liquid conducting outlet means (18). The aspirator has a first inlet port (20), a second inlet port (22), and an outlet port (24). The first inlet port is connected to the liquid diluent conducting means for receiving a stream of the liquid diluent and the second inlet port is connected to the liquid concentrate conducting means for receiving a stream of the liquid concentrate at atmospheric pressure. The liquid conducting outlet means is connected to the outlet port for dispensing the use solution from the apparatus. The geometry of the aspirator nozzle and the fluid passaways in the dispenser are adapted to a high viscosity dilute product.
Abstract:
Several embodiments of an insect trap (5) using attractant light (16) displayed on a protection surface are disclosed. The insect trap can be mounted on a vertical surface (20) or on a ceiling surface (83). The wall-mounted housing forms an upwardly facing opening (27) for facilitating entry of flying insect pests and for the reflection of light onto the vertical surface. The ceiling-mounted housing has a lateral opening (82) for facilitating entry of pest and for reflection of light onto the ceiling and/or opposite wall. Insects that enter the trap are immobilized on an adhesive surface (12) within the trap. A method of trapping insects is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic-compatible low-foaming rinse aid and method for using such rinse aid to effectuate sheeting of aqueous rinse liquid from solid surface. The rinse aid comprises alkyl polyglycoside (APG) and reverse, polyoxyethylene-containing polyoxyalkylene block copolymer. The aqueous rinse solution obtained by diluting the rinse aid with water is compatible with thermoplastics such as polycarbonate and polysulfone.
Abstract:
A method of lubricating plastic conveyor tracks or belts is herein described wherein the lubricant composition contains a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide; also described are methods of manufacture of such lubricant compositions in both concentrate and diluted form. The compositions may also comprise an anionic and a nonionic surfactant as well as a neutralizing agent.
Abstract:
Novel insecticidal compositions are described which are particularly effective aginst insect pests such as cockroaches, ants, termites, crickets, flies and the like, which contain an effective amount of insecticide and a synergistic effective amount of water powder. The compositions, preferably using boric acid as an insecticide, and preferably in the form of a paste or dust bait, kill such pests more quickly or allow lower concentrations of insecticide to be used in such compositions.
Abstract:
An alkaline cleaner composition comprising an alkyl or alkylaryl ethoxy carboxylate, a strong chelating agent and a source of alkalinity, its manufacture and use in removing greasy soil from hard surface areas is described. The compositions are especially effective in removing lime-soaps in such greasy soil especially on institutional and commercial kitchen floors.
Abstract:
The invention provides an environmentally stable detergent article. Normally, hygroscopic caustic detergent materials can be made resistant to absorption of ambient humidity or water by introducing a barrier coating onto the caustic detergent. The barrier also renders the highly active alkaline material safe for human handling. The coated detergent article can further be enclosed in a film enclosure or wrapping which provides further protection for handling during production, shipment, storage and final end use. The coated article can be removed from any packaging material, inserted into a water spray-on dispenser and used to create a concentrated aqueous detergent for use in ware washing machines. In order to obtain control over dispensing, hydrophobic coatings can be nicked, split, peeled or partially removed using other means to provide an initial surface of caustic detergent exposed to the water spray. The water spray can then dispense the detergent and either melt or dissolve the hydrophobic coating in a controlled manner.
Abstract:
The composition and method of use of a rinse agent including an aqueous solution of an effective deposit modifying amount of a deposit modifier that causes the formation of a clear coating of deposits are described. Clear coatings are prepared in form on the surface of the ware after ware is contacted with the rinse agent of the invention in a rinsing stage.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a clinic sink system and method for precleaning soiled articles, such as diapers, hand towels, washcloths, personal linens, general bed linens, and bedpans soiled with human waste products. A method is provided which is capable of precleaning soiled articles prior to cleaning in a conventional washing machine. In a preferred embodiment, odors may be controlled by introducing a deodorizing agent into solution with water sprayed from a dispenser onto an article, and disease may be controlled by introducing a sanitizing agent into the solution. A preferred dispenser (10) for use therewith includes a container (18) and a base (12) which form a substantially sealed reservoir. Such a dispenser is capable of providing a controlled concentration of chemical product in solution.
Abstract:
A stable, solid or semi-solid, antimicrobial composition is provided comprising a dialdehyde antimicrobial agent such as glutaraldehyde, and a carbohydrate such as a sugar or a polyol such as a sugar alcohol. The composition can be employed to preserve, sanitize, disinfect, or sterilize a contaminated surface or area. The composition can also be combined with an absorbing agent to produce a moisture absorbent antimicrobial composition which can be used to absorb and disinfect biological spills such as body fluid spills.
