Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a picture element signal of a fixed object from being attenuated or missing even when dispersion in a characteristic of a sensing element is continuously calibrated. SOLUTION: A visual axis vibration section 12 vibrates minutely a visual axis of an infrared imaging section 11. A calibration section 13 smoothes image signal data outputted from each detection element in this vibrating state to generate calibration data to correct dispersion in the characteristic of each element by using the image signal smoothed data (reference data). A correction section 14 corrects the image signal data outputted from each detection element based on the calibration data of each element and stores the result to a memory 15. A vibration compensation section 16 controls a write address or a read address based on the vibration of the visual axis in the case of writing the corrected image signal data from each element to the memory 15 or reading the data from the memory to output a video signal/to compensate the vibration of the image attended with the vibration of the visual axis.

CONSTITUTION: A frame integration section 1 applies permanent processing of integration [Sfp=Sf'p+(Dip-Sf'p)/t] being successive timewise smoothing of a digital signal input Dip of a 2-dimension frame image being an output signal having a dispersion in an input output characteristic of each element of an infrared sensor of a 2-dimension array and outputs its processing output Sfp. A calibration data generating section 2 processes the processing output (Sfp or Sf'p) with a spatial filter deciding a surrounding region and generates calculation data Cp a difference (Rf'p-Sf'p=Cp) between the output Sf'p of each element and a mean value Rf'p of an output of its peripheral element being the processing output. A correction arithmetic section 3 adds the calculation data Cp and the digital signal input Dip to correct dispersion in the characteristic of each element.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To sense independently the infrared rays in two specified wavelength bands as resultant of wavelength separation of the incident infrared rays by installing a wavelength separating mirror in a single vacuum vessel, and therein also installing two sets of band-pass filter and sensing element in perpendicular arrangement with each other. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength separating mirror 2 is provided inside of a cold shield 13 installed in a single vacuum vessel 1, in which also are installed two sets of band-pass filters 3. 4 and sensing elements 5, 6 intersecting perpendicularly to each other. The incident infrared rays pass through the vessel 1 and cold shield 13, and one portion is reflected by the mirror 2 with a certain wavelength as the boundary and sent to the filter 3, while the other portion penetrates the mirror 2 and is sent to the filter 4. The infrared rays as resultant from passage of the filters 3, 4 through which their respective wavelength bands have passed, are sensed by the sensing elements 5, 6 and sent to a signal processing device provided externally. In this manner, sensing of infrared rays lying in different, wavelength bands can be done with good sensitivity within one cold shield 13.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption and to form a simple and inexpensive circuit by applying an IRCCD (infrared charge coupled device) output to one input terminal of a differential amplifier and applying the IRCCD output to other input terminal of the differential amplifier via a delay means. CONSTITUTION:While an IRCCD output is fed to one input terminal of a differential amplifier 10, the IRCCD output is fed to the other input terminal of the differential amplifier 10 via a delay means 12. That is, the delay means 12 delays the IRCCD output and a level at infrared ray power incidence and a level at no incidence in the IRCCD output are fed simultaneously to the input terminals of the differential amplifier 10 and the output of the differential amplifier 10 is A/D converted by using an A/D conversion clock, then a differential amplifier having been used in a conventional processing circuit is not needed. Thus, the processing circuit is formed with less power consumption inexpensively and with small size and light weight, and the heat design is facilitated because no heat dissipation takes place.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To correctly execute a level change by preparing a histogram based on the luminance level of each infrared detector for each frame and calculating true minimum and maximum luminance levels by accumulating generation frequencies in the histograms. CONSTITUTION:A histogram preparation part 11 prepares the histogram based on the luminance level obtained from the output of each infrared detector for each frame, and an accumulated picture element number calculation part 12 accumulates the number of generated picture elements in a direction from the minimum luminance to the maximum luminance of the histogram. Next, the number of generated picture elements is accumulated in a direction from the maximum luminance to the minimum luminance of the histogram, and a minimum/maximum luminance level decision part 13 defines the luminance level when being the number of accumulated picture elements more than a set value Nthr as the true minimum and maximum luminance levels respectively. By using these true minimum and maximum luminance levels, a level change part 14 changes the luminance level in the next frame to the level of a signal processing side. Thus, the minimum and maximum levels are stabilized and can be correctly changed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct offset in a real time while acquiring a video at all times by calculating the offset value from an output when a visual axis displacement device is not displaced and displaced by one element. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a visual axis displacement device 12 controlling freely to displace the visual axis by one element of each sensing element 4, data storage memories 14, 15 storing respectively a video data A outputted from each sensing element 4 when the visual axis displacement device 12 is not displaced and a video data B outputted when displaced by one element and an offset calculation circuit 16 calculating the offset value by using outputs of the data storage memories 14, 15. Then a smooth offset value obtained via a linear lag smoothing filter circuit 17 is stored in a smoothing offset memory 18 corresponding to a picture element and the deviation by one picture element is corrected by a video output generating circuit 21 to output the video data and the smooth offset value read from the smooth offset memory 18 corresponding to other picture element data to correct the offset. Thus, automatic offset correction is attained.

The liquid crystal shutter 31 is turned on/off to defocus an incident radiant ray and make it incident in a multi-element type infrared ray sensor 30 with the light scattering effect of the liquid crystal in the off-state to obtain an offset correction data periodically and the offset is corrected by an offset correction data. Thus, the video image with less uneven brightness is always obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of incident light from the inner surface of a housing to a detection element to a large extent, by providing a reflecting layer having a concave surface on a window side and a mirror wherein a light absorbing layer is formed on a lens side and an aperture iris permitting only converged light to pass is provided on a center optical axis between a lens and a housing. CONSTITUTION:The aperture iris 11 of a mirror 12 permits only infrared beam converged by a lens 1 to pass and the passed beam (a) is detected by an element 3 through a window 7 and a light passing aperture 8. The iris 11 can be arranged so as to become nearer to the lens as compared with the cold shield in a detection container 6 and the aperture diameter of the lens 1 is enlarged to enhance sensitivity. The emitted light from the inner surface of the housing between the lens 1 and the mirror 12 is absorbed by the absorbing layer 10 of the spherical mirror 12 and the light (b) from the part between the mirror 12 and the cold shield 15 is reflected from the reflecting layer 9 on the concave surface of the mirror 12 at an angle not incident to the detection element 3 and the light (c) from the part between a concave mirror and a window is blocked from being incident to the element by the hole 8 of the shield 5. By this constitution, the incident quantity of the infrared rays emitted from the inner surface of the housing to the detection element is reduced to a large extent.
