    Abstract: Prepn. of 4,5-dichloroimidazoles of formula (I) (where R is an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic gp.) comprises reacting an aldehyde of formula RCHO with dicyanide and HCl. Dichloroimidazoles of formula (I), where R has the following values are also new: R is Ph, opt. mono or polysubstd. by 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, CF3, NO2, di(1-6C)alkylamino, phenoxy, 1-12C carbalkoxy, carbamoyl, di(1-12C)alkylcarbamoyl or a gp. of formula -CH=CH-C6H4X (X is H or halogen), or R is a 5-6 membered heterocycle with 1-2 heteroatoms, opt. also contg. a condensed cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic gp. and/or opt. substd. by 1-6C alkyl, halogen or 1-6C alkoxy. (I) are antimycotics and fungicides and some (I) also have herbicidal properties. (I) are obtd. in good yields. Oxanide, which can be used as a fertiliser, is obtd. as a by-product.

    Abstract: Title compsns contg. 1 pt. by wt. nitroglycerin, 0.5-0.9 pts. by wt. non volatile water-sol. solvent e.g. a polyethylene glycol and 20-200 pts. by wt. of a water sol. pharmaceutical diluent. Tablets contg. 0.1-1.0 mg nitroglycerin yield the active product rapidly and uniformly when administered sublingually. Tablets are prepd. by mixing the nitroglycerin with the vehicle e.g. lactose and saccharose, sieving the product then moistening with a solvent mixt. of polyethylene glycol.: ethanol and water before tableting and drying.
