    Abstract: STABILIZED RED PHOSPHORUS AND PROCESS FOR MAKING IT Production of stabilized pulverulent red phosphorus. The phosphorus so stabilized comprises a homogeneous blend of red phosphorus particles with a size of at most about 2 mm and a metal compound of the second or third group of the Periodic System as an oxidation stabilizer, wherein the metal compound is the aluminum, calcium or zinc salt of a phosphinic acid of the general formula in which R1 and R2 each stand for an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, the metal compound being present in the homogeneous blend in a proportion of about 0.5 to 5 weight %.

    Abstract: Phlegmatised, pulverulent, readily free-flowing red phosphorus comprises from 95 to 99.95 % by weight of red phosphorus having a particle size of up to 2 mm and from 0.05 to 5 % by weight of polyurethane as phlegmatising agent. This red phosphorus is prepared by introducing an aqueous polyurethane dispersion into an aqueous suspension of red phosphorus having a particle size of up to 2 mm and a pH of from 5 to 9 in such a manner that from 95 to 99.95 parts by weight of red phosphorus are present per 5 to 0.05 parts by weight of polyurethane, then stirring the mixture for from 0.5 to 3 hours at a temperature of from 20 to 90 DEG C, filtering the mixture, and finally drying the phlegmatised red phosphorus at elevated temperature.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to difficulty flammable wooden articles, especially chip boards comprising solid and pipe boards, prepared by extrusion from wooden chips and/or woody fibrous materials. The articles contain as a flame-retarding addend a product of (a) 50 to 99.5 weight % of a flame-retarding agent physically and chemically stable under extrusion conditions, preferably 75 to 99.5 weight % of a pulverulent, free-flowing ammonium polyphosphate of the general formula H(n-m)+2(NH4)mPnO3n+1 in which n stands for a whole number with an average value of about 20 to 800 and the ratio of m/n is about 1, and (b) about 0.5 to 50 weight % of a cured water-insoluble artificial resin encapsulating the individual particles of the flame-retarding agent or ammonium polyphosphate. The disclosure also relates to difficulty flammable boards veneered with wood or a laminate.

    Abstract: Self-extinguishing polymeric composition based on a polyolefin, especially polypropylene, of improved thermal stability containing an intumescent fire-retardant system comprised of a phosphorus constituent and a carbonaceous nitrogen constituent. The composition contains more particularly, as the phosphorus constituent, a product consisting substantially of (a) 75-99.5 wgt % pulverulent free flowing ammonium polyphosphate of the following general formula H(n-m)+2(NH4)mPnO3n+1 in which n stands for an integer having an average value of from about 20 to 800 and the ratio of m/n is about 1, and (b) about 0.5-25 wgt % of a water-insoluble, optionally cured artificial resin encapsulating the individual ammonium polyphosphate particles.
