Abstract: In a data processing system, a circuit and methods for carrying out sequential logic functions are disclosed aimed at overcoming the problems encountered with the standard approach for designing synchronous logic, timed from a single clock source. When propagation delays through logic elements and their interconnections are becoming of the same order of magnitude as the clock period necessary to achieve the required level of performance of a logic function, the distribution of a common timing reference or clock over an entire function is becoming the limiting factor. In a complete departure from the standard approach, logic functions of the invention are capable of supplying their own timing information to their interface thus, self asserting their result and capable of requesting new set of inputs when needed. Therefore, logic functions of the invention are autonomous and do not rely on the distribution of a clock to operate.

Abstract: A system and method for unique authentication of each replication of a plurality of soft-copy documents, forming a group. One soft-copy document, out of the group, becomes a carrier for an authentication code aimed at protecting the group. The authentication code is computed from the concatenation of the plurality of soft-copy documents and a key. A random number is also generated for each replication of the group of files. The random number is combined with the authentication code to mark the soft-copy document which has been selected to become the carrier. Thus, the invention introduces randomization in the insertion of the authentication code so that for each replication of an identical group of data files, unique authentication data can be associated, merged and hidden in the transmitted information.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and a method for selecting, accessi ng and retrieving directly from a physical (i.e., hard-copy) document, hypertex t documents located on a user workstation or on one or a plurality of servers connected to a communication network, and for displaying the retrieved hypertext documents over said physical document. The information is accessed by the user simply by touching with a finger items (i.e., words, letters, symbols, pictures, icons, ...) that are highlighted on an electronic hyperte xt document displayed over the physical document. The method, for use in a user system comprises the steps of: - identifying a physical document, this physical document comprising one or a plurality of pages; - identifying a pa ge of said physical document; - identifying and locating an electronic document associated with the identified page referring to a document hyperlink table; said document hyperlink table comprising for each page of the physical document the identification and location of an electronic document; - accessing and retrieving the electronic document associated with the identified page; - displaying the retrieved electronic document by means of an opto-touch foil placed over the identified page.
