    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress power consumption of a computer (PC) within AC power supply adapter capacity. SOLUTION: The power consumption of a PC provided with a base load consisting of plural components and a CPU including operation modes of a slot ring and clock down is controlled. The actual power consumption 103 of the CPU in a certain operation mode fluctuates relatively vehemently in the maximum power consumption range of the CPU. The fluctuation of the actual power consumption of the base load is moderate. The predictive maximum power consumption Pmax of the PC is obtained from the actual power consumption of the base load and the maximum of power consumption in the current operation mode of the CPU. Reference powers 121, 123 and 125 are set as objects to be compared with the Pmax to change from a certain operation mode to another operation mode. When the Pmax exceeds the reference power, the operation mode of the CPU is changed to control the actual power consumption of the PC.
