Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully enhance performance of an entire system even during a peak shift period. SOLUTION: The invention includes a system body equipped with a function to drive with reduced system performance; an AC adapter 51 which is constituted connectable to the system body and supplies power to the system body from a commercial power supply; and a battery 52 which is constituted connectable to the system body, discharges after charge, and supplies the system body with power. In a state that both the AC adapter 51 and the battery 52 are connected to the system body, during a period for restricting power supply from the AC adapter 51, the system is driven without deteriorating the performance of the system even in the state that power supply from the AC adapter 51 is turned off and the power is being supplied from the battery 52. Then, even during this period, the power supply from the AC adapter 51 is turned on and the power is supplied to the system body by the AC adapter 51. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input event generating method for enabling a user to easily and accurately select a small object on a display screen and an information terminal equipped with the method. SOLUTION: This method for generating an input event in a picture display system is provided with a display device and a pointing device for pointing an image displayed on the display screen of the display device with a pointer. The method comprises a step for displaying an enlarged display window for enlarging and displaying the prescribed region of the display picture in response to a processing start action in displaying a picture and a step for, when the operation of the pointing device is detected at a first coordinate position on the enlarged display window, generating an input event corresponding to the pointing device operation at a second coordinate position corresponding to the first coordinate position in the prescribed region.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power unit capable of enhancing use efficiency of a battery provided on a power supply line and a computer capable of enhancing the use efficiency of the built-in battery. SOLUTION: These power unit and computer are constituted by providing a FET 6 and a diode D2 on the power supply line L as a protection circuit 112 to protect internal circuit 110 from overvoltage due to equipment which is not illustrated connected with an IEEE 1394 bus 150 and simultaneously providing a switch changeover circuit 113 to turn the FET 6 off when voltage of a port P is equal to or higher than reference voltage as equal to or lower than withstand pressure of the internal circuit 110.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power control method and device of a computer and the computer for preventing a user from being given any unnecessary uneasiness, and for suppressing the recurrence of any problem at the time of supplying power. SOLUTION: When a power source switch is depressed, its own diagnostic test (POST) is started, and when any error related with the initialization of an IC is not generated at the time of the test, an operating system OS is loaded so that an operating state can be obtained (steps 200-208). When any error is generated, whether or not the error is generated not less than the prescribed number of times is judged, and when the error is generated not less than the prescribed number of times, error display is operated, and then main processing is ended. When the error is not generated not less than the prescribed number of times, an error history is stored, and setting for stabilizing hardware is operated, and a restart signal being a signal for restarting the computer is transmitted, and then the main processing is ended (steps 210-220).
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a leak current at the time of power-off concerning a remote power on/off type power supply system using a momentary switch. SOLUTION: In case of power-off, namely, in the off state of switch SW2, no power is supplied to a latch circuit 30 so that no power is consumed without fail. Besides, a switch driving circuit 40 does not originally consume power. When a user presses a momentary switch SW1 in the off state of switch SW2, the switch SW2 is turned on by the switch driving circuit 40. As a result, the latch circuit 30 can receive a driving voltage Vcc from the downstream side of switch SW2 so as to latch the on state of momentary switch SW1. When the user releases the momentary switch SW1 later, the momentary switch SW1 itself immediately recovers its original position and with this recovery, the on operation of SW2 due to the switch driving circuit 40 is stopped as well. At such a time, however, the on state of SW2 can be held by the operation of latch circuit 30 already.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data server system and a computer device, capable of accepting access from the external, and surely executing processes, even during its move. SOLUTION: During a move, with since a body PC 10 set to a suspension mode or a hibernation mode, specified operation is made on the hand-held terminal side, and data is read and written from/to only an MRAM 14, which has higher resistance to vibration than an HDD 13 because it has no mechanically moving part. At this time, the MRAM 14 is fed by a power controller 27, so that the HDD 13 having mechanically movable parts is not fed. By detecting whether an AC power supply 26, a LAN cable 40, and a telephone line cable 41 are connected, if whether the body PC 10 is in the middle of during a moving can be determined automatically.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charging system which can enlarge the initial capacity of a battery to be charged and can extend the operation life thereof, a charge control apparatus, a charge control method and a computer to which the charge control method is applied. SOLUTION: The number of charging and discharging cycles of a battery 102 is detected, based on the charging amount of the battery 102 with a charger 68 which is obtained on the basis of a current flowing into a resistance R with an embedded controller 80, the charging condition by the charger 68 is set to provide the battery 102 to have high capacity until the number of charging and discharging cycles reaches, and the charging conditions of the charger 68 are set to give a longer operation life to the battery 102 after the number of charging and discharging cycles has reached the predetermined value.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power supply device, a power supply controller and a method for controlling a power supply, capable of obtaining a start time and a computer capable of obtaining the the start time of the contained power supply device. SOLUTION: The power supply device comprises a memory 104 for storing data which indicates a start date in a main battery 64A as device. Data indicating the start date is stored only once in the memory 104 via a CPU 102, when the battery 64A is actually started to be used by an embedded controller 80. When the start date of the battery 64A, is desired the data indicating the start date is read from the memory 104 by the controller 80.
