Abstract: The ink layer of a thermal transfer printing ribbon is overcoated with a hold-off layer which serves to make the resulting printing more easily correctable. The hold-off layer operates by preventing penetration by the ink layer into the substrate being printed upon.

Abstract: An image is formed by exposing to a light pattern a plate comprising a substrate and only a single layer of a photoconductive, non-polymeric, film forming, pyrazoline, oxadiazoles or fluorenone organic compound which has a glass transition temperature below 200 DEG C. and which has both a crystalline phase and an amorphous phase, and developing the plate by causing a selective change in phase between the light exposed and non-exposed areas.

Abstract: 1,272,346. Electrophotographic element. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 13 Nov., 1970 [22 Dec., 1969], No. 54025/70. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic element for use in a contact reflex process comprises a succession of layers all at least partially transparent to a beam of light polarized in one plane the layers comprising a conductive base layer over which is disposed a polyamide layer, a layer of dichroic sensitizer being provided over the polyamide layer and being covered by a photoconductive layer, the dichroic sensitizer being effective to activate the photoconductive layer in such a manner as to cause the element to exhibit dichroic photoconductivity in response to an incident light beam. In the embodiments an aluminized polycarbonate base is coated with an alcoholic solution of a polyamide optionally containing plasticizers and cured at 100‹ C. The sensitizer, e.g. a bisthiazole (see Specification 1,244,763) is oriented on the polyamide surface in a unilateral direction and the sensitizer is coated with an organic solution of polyvinylcarbazole, 2,4,7-trinitrofluorenone and optionally a copolymer of esters of acrylic and methacrylic acids and a siloxane and cured at 100‹ C. Other electron acceptors are specified.
