Abstract: The invention provides an elevator door system (1) comprising a motor (26), a vertical axis (12) rotatably driven by the motor (26), and an elevator door (3). The door (3) can comprise a plurality of vertically aligned rigid panels (2) or can be a shee t of material which is rigid or reinforced in the vertical direction or can have any other appropriate form making it suitable for being wound upon and unwound from the vertical axis (12). The door (3) is mounted to a flexible force transmission member (4;6;40;50) provided along an entire width of the door (3) and interconnected to the vertical axis (12). Accordingly, the forces generated by the motor (26) for opening and closing the door (3) are substantially transmitted through the or each transmission member (4;6;40;50) rather than being imparted onto the door (3) itself. Hence, in use the strain on the door (3) is greatly reduced and therefore the quantity of material used for the door and consequently it s cost and mass can be reduced without deteriorating performance.

Abstract: An elevator shaft door having a door panel composed of a front wall and rear wall, which walls are connected together by a thermally releasable material, wherein at least a part of the closing edge of the respective door panels consists of a profile member that is formed by the back wall or thermally non-detachably fastened to the back wall. In the case of a fire, the back wall separates from the front wall through release of the thermally releasable material, wherein the front wall curves by heat effect while the back wall with the closing edge retains the original shape.

At least one control unit is provided for determining or for estimating a number of building occupants in the building. The control unit defines at least one evacuation zone in the building during the emergency condition. Based on this information, the control unit defines at least one designated floor in the building during the emergency condition. Then the system evacuates the building occupants with the elevator car and/or a stairway from the evacuation zone to the designated floor.

Abstract: The threshold is let into the floor below the leaves (7), on which are holders (6) with sliding components (5) working in guide grooves (3). It is of modular construction, with profiled guides (1) parallel to the leaves and bearing against each other via their lengthwise sides, together with distance-pieces (2) and spacers (4). These are pref. in frictional contact with each other. The guides can be of conventional C- or L-section, or of sheet-metal bent into shape, two opposite ones together forming the groove. The distance-pieces can be situated only at the screwed joints, or can extend for the entire threshold length, and they can slope towards one side of the door frame.

Abstract: The lift door gear is fitted with two cams (1,2) linked by a control linkage and held at preset spacing by a spring loaded ratchet (8). Control wheels (21,11) fitted to the lift shaft doors align the cams centrally and position them ready to operate the doors if required. The double cams can align the door gear to either side of the operating line. The control linkage has a parallelogram layout. One of the cams is fixed (1) and has a control cam (3) to interact with the shaft door roller (21).

Then the system evacuates the building occupants with the elevator car and/or a stairway from the evacuation zone to the designated floor.
