    Abstract: An antifoaming agent for fermentation, which comprises (A) a reaction product obtained by the addition polymerization of 50 to 250 moles of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to propylene oxide = 1:1 to 1:4 ) to 1 mole of a mixture composed of an oil or fat and a polyhydric alcohol containing at least three hydroxyl groups; and (B) a fatty acid, an alcohol, a polyoxyalkylene polyhydric alcohol ether, a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether, a polyoxyalkylene fatty acid ester, a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether fatty acid ester and/or a polyoxyalkylene polymer. The above antifoaming agent has both foam-breaking effects and foam-inhibiting effects so that it has excellent antifoaming effects and does not adversely affect the fermentation production.

    Abstract: Described is a process for the production of depolymerized natural rubber, which makes it possible to obtain, at high reaction efficiency, of depolymerized natural rubber in the liquid form and having a narrow molecular weight distribution; and also a process for the production of depolymerized natural rubber which is free from odor or coloring peculiar to natural rubber and is also free from the danger of immediate allergy derived from protein. The process according to the present invention comprises adding a carbonyl compound to a natural rubber latex, and then subjecting the resulting natural rubber to air oxidation in the presence of a radical forming agent or adding a carbonyl compound to the latex of deproteinized natural rubber and then subjecting the deproteinized natural rubber to air oxidation optionally in the presence of a radical forming agent.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a plant-activating agent for improving the activity of plants efficiently without a chemical injury onto the plant. The plant-activating agent is selected from the group consisting of (1) an organic acid derivative which is derived from the organic acid having two functional groups and wherein at least one of the above-mentioned functional groups is bonded to a group containing 1 to 30 carbon atoms; (2) a compound represented by the formula (II): RCOO(AO)nX wherein R represents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 11 to 29 carbon atoms; X represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or acyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 30 carbon atoms, or a counter ion; AO represents at least one group selected from oxyethylene, oxyprolylene and oxybutylene groups and may be random or block; and n represents an average number of moles added and is zero to 30; and (3) a glycerol derivative. If necessary, the agent is used together with a surfactant, a fertilizer component or a chelating agent.
