The present invention provides an aqueous artificial medium comprising a water-absorbing polymer, which is suitable as a medium for cultivation in soil or hydroponic cultivation of plants. That is, the present invention provides an aqueous artificial medium and a polymer composition, comprising 0.01 to 10 % by weight of a water-absorbing polymer and 0.001 to 10 % by weight of a cationic polymer. Further, the present invention provides an aqueous artificial medium and a polymer composition, further comprising a porous water-supplying support having a communicating hole.

The components of a fertilizer are mixed with both a surfactant and heptonic acid or a salt thereof, and the obtained mixture is applied on leaves in the form of an aqueous solution.

An antifoaming agent for fermentation, which comprises (A) a reaction product obtained by the addition polymerization of 50 to 250 moles of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to propylene oxide = 1:1 to 1:4 ) to 1 mole of a mixture composed of an oil or fat and a polyhydric alcohol containing at least three hydroxyl groups; and (B) a fatty acid, an alcohol, a polyoxyalkylene polyhydric alcohol ether, a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether, a polyoxyalkylene fatty acid ester, a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether fatty acid ester and/or a polyoxyalkylene polymer. The above antifoaming agent has both foam-breaking effects and foam-inhibiting effects so that it has excellent antifoaming effects and does not adversely affect the fermentation production.

That is, the present invention provides a freshness-keeping agent for plants, such as a harvested plant, comprising a sugar derivative- or sugar alcohol derivative- based surfactant (A) and at least one selected from the group consisting of a sugar (B), a plant hormone (C), an aging inhibitor (D), an aggregating agent for colloidal particles (E) and a germicide, fungicide and preservative (F), preferably in a specific ratio by weight.

A process for preparing a deproteinized natural rubber latex, while lowering the allergen content of a natural rubber latex as the raw material to such an extent as will be safe for the human body without sacrificing the yield and moldability. The step of washing off non-rubber components is provided after each of the steps of proteolysis, precure, and molding by using an aqueous alkali solution, ammonia, water containing 0.005 to 0.02 % by weight of free chlorine, or an alcohol-water mixture having an alcohol content of 5 to 80 % by weight as the washing solution for the treatment. The process is suitable for the preparation of natural rubber products such as rubber gloves, condoms, catheters, and foam rubbers.

The effect enhancer for the agricultural chemical comprises, as an effective component, a compound represented by the following formula (I): R-O[(EO)x(PO)y](EO)z-H, wherein EO is an oxyethylene group; PO is an oxypropylene group; R is a straight-chin or branched alkyl group or alkenyl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms; x is a value of 1 to 30 on the average; y is a value of 1 to 30 on the average, and z is a value of 1 to 30 on the average. The agricultural chemical formulation composes the above-mentioned surfactant and a technical grade of active ingredient or an active compound for an agricultural chemical.
