    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic layer having excellent dispersibility of a coating compd. and excellent smoothness and durability of the magnetic layer by dispersing >=1 kinds of coupling agents selected from the group consisting of a specific org. silane compd., etc., and fine ferromagnetic powder subjected to a surface treatment by a specific phosphate into a binder contg. a specific thermoplastic polyurethane resin. CONSTITUTION:The thermoplastic polyurethane resin having 5,000-40,000 number average mol.wt. analyzed by gel permeation chromatography, >=200kg/cm breaking strength in a tension test of 100mm/min tension speed, 100-400% breaking elongation, >=150kg/cm 100% modulus, and >=40 deg.C glass transition temp. analyzed by dynamic viscoelasticity measurement is incorporated into the binder. The magnetic layer is formed by dispersing >=1 kinds of the coupling agents selected from the group consisting of the org. silane compd., etc., having a hydrolyzable alkoxy silane group in one molecule and the fine ferromagnetic powder subjected to the surface treatment by >=1 kinds of the phosphates selected from the group consisting of the phosphate having the structure expressed by the formula, etc., in an inert org. solvent into the above-mentioned binder.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve magnetic powder dispersibility, durability and surface smoothness by using a specific polyurethane resin as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The polyurethane resin having at least >=1 of an ammonium salt and/or amine salt of a COOH group in the molecular chain is used. A magnetic recording medium is produced by coating a magnetic paint for which the polyurethane resin is used as the binder and to which pulverous ferromagnetic powder and additive, etc. are added together with an org. solvent, on a non- magnetic substrate and drying the coating. The ratio of the binder and the pulverous ferromagnetic powder is 10-100pts.wt., more preferably 20-50pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. pulverous ferromagnetic powder. The mechanical strength and wear resistance are not enough if the ratio of the binder is below 10pts.wt. The magnetic powder density in the magnetic layer decreases and the satisfactory performance (reproduced output, etc.) as the magnetic recording medium is not obtainable if the ratio of the binder is increased to 100pts.wt. or above.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attachment for mixing which permits control of variation of the concentrations of to-be-mixed chemicals in raw water even when the supplying pressure of raw water from an upstream passage varies and mixing the chemicals with raw water while keeping the concentrations of the chemicals in raw water for a specified time. SOLUTION: An attachment 10 for mixing is arranged between an upstream passage 13 and a downstream passage 14, mixes to-be-mixed chemicals housed in a chemical housing chamber 15 with raw water incoming from the passage 13 and allows the raw water mixed with the chemicals to flow into the passage 14. The attachment 10 has an inner cylindrical body 19 and an outer cylindrical body 20: the inside of the body 19 serves as a main passage 21 for raw water, and a hollow part between the bodies 19 and 20 is used as a chemical housing chamber 15. The inside diameter D1 of the main passage 21a for raw water (the first narrowing portion) is smaller than the inside diameter D2 of the main passage for raw water at the position 21b (the inlet opening) where the inlet 16c of an incoming passage 16 for raw water into the chamber 15 is opened.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly switch a state that a mixture chemical is mixed in raw water by simultaneously opening and closing an inflow path to a chemical housing chamber and an outflow path by a simple operation. SOLUTION: This mixture attachment 10 is interposed between an upstream-side channel 13 and a downstream-side channel 14 for making the mixture chemical housed in the chemical housing chamber 15 flow out with raw water while mixing it with the raw water. The mixture attachment 10 comprises an inside cylindrical body 19 and an outside cylindrical body 20 arranged concentrically with each other. The inside of the inside cylindrical body 19 serves as a raw water channel, and both ends of a hollow part between the inside cylindrical body 19 and the outside cylindrical body 20 are covered with an upstream-side blocking part 22 and a downstream-side blocking part 23 to make the hollow part serve as the chemical housing chamber 15.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make increasable the recording density while obtaining excellent light transmission, antistatic properties, productivity and travelling stability, by forming an intermediate layer by using a paint for forming the intermediate layer containing specified nonmagnetic iron oxide, carbon black and organic tin compound. SOLUTION: An intermediate layer 4 in contact with a magnetic layer 3 is formed by coating the upper section of a supporter 2 with a paint for forming the intermediate layer containing manganese-comprising nonmagnetic iron oxide, carbon black and an organic tin compound. Surface electric-resistance characteristics are improved by a manganese-containing nonmagnetic iron oxide and carbon black, medium defects due to dust, refuse, etc., are decreased, and productivity and travelling durability can be enhanced, the manganese-comprising nonmagnetic iron oxide is effective for lowering light transmission because of black powder, the holding power of a lubricant is elevated by carbon black, durability can be increased, and the curability of a film is made better by the organic tin compound, and travelling durability can be improved.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which achieve a higher output stability by preventing the clogging of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: A woven cloth which comprises polyester fibers (70 wt.%) and nylon fibers (30 wt.%) with METSUKE of 170±3%g/m , with the width of 23 mm and with the thickness in dryness of 0.32±0.03 mm and is wound on a backup roll with a diameter of 10 mm at 45 deg. is pressed onto a magnetic layer 4 at a tension of 30 gf and under such a condition, a magnetic recording medium 1 is made to run at a speed of 300 m/s. After 500 m of the running, this magnetic recording medium shows that the value of the optical concentration of the woven cloth is 0.01-0.1 when is measured by continuous light with a wavelength of 0.77-0.38 μm.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having good surface smoothness and superior output (C/N) characteristic (high frequency and low frequency characteristics) and overwrite characteristic. SOLUTION: A lower magnetic layer 3 contains tabular magnetic particles and acicular non-magnetic inorganic particles, with having a thickness of 0.5-2.5 μm. The tabular magnetic particles are arranged so that a face of the largest diameter is inclined by 70-90 deg. in average to a face of a magnetic recording medium. An upper magnetic layer 4 contains acicular magnetic particles in a thickness of not larger than 0.3 μm. A mixed magnetic area 6 where the tabular magnetic particles and acicular magnetic particles mingle is formed between the upper and lower magnetic layers. A thickness (m) of the mixed magnetic area is 1-20% a total thickness T of the magnetic layers.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve electromagnetic conversion efficiency and running durability, by forming a magnetic layer of a paint containing a ferromagnetic powder of not smaller than a predetermined specific surface area, a non-magnetic inorganic powder of a specific range to the ferromagnetic powder and a specific polymer containing a nitro group, in a state where the ferromagnetic powder and non-magnetic inorganic powder are dispersed stably. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer 4 on an intermediate layer 3 of a magnetic recording medium 1 is formed as a layer at a front face of the magnetic recording medium, by applying a magnetic paint on the intermediate layer 3. The magnetic paint contains a ferromagnetic powder of a specific surface area of not smaller than 40 m /g, a non-magnetic inorganic powder and a vinyl chloride-based copolymer as a binder, and also contains a lubricant, a hardener, a solvent, etc. The magnetic powder is a metallic, an alloy or a metallic oxide magnetic powder having a BET specific surface area of not smaller than 40 m /g, so as to obtain favorable electromagnetic conversion characteristic. Moreover, the vinyl chloride-based copolymer is used as the binder to lower a viscosity of the magnetic paint, so that the recording medium has good surface as well as superior electromagnetic conversion characteristic and running durability.
