    Abstract: PURPOSE:To select stem culms at normal row intervals even in stem culms not in normal row intervals of stem culm lines in the lateral width direction of a machine body and to properly control steering based on the introduced position information. CONSTITUTION:Detecting means S1 and S2 for discovering introduction position of stem culms in the lateral width direction of a machine body, guided to a reaping and treating part 3, consist of plural sensors S1 and S2 for detecting introduction positions at different positions in the lateral width direction of the machine body. A steering control means 100 for maintaining the introduction position at a proper set position based on the detected information of the introduction position detecting means S1 and S2 obtains an average value of the detected values of the plural sensors S1 and S2 and controls steering based on the average value as a stem culm introduction position.

A discriminating means 100 for judging horizontal divergence of stem and culm from a set proper state based on detected information of detecting means R1 and R2 for discovering a rocking angle of each sensor recognizes a state of a rocking angle of the sensor bar at the uncut side to the rear side larger than a rocking angle of the sensor bar at the cut side to the rear side between a pair of the sensor bars 10 as a set proper state and judges the horizontal divergence.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce errors in judging the length by making a length determining means determine the length per one pixel larger when pixels belonging to a small stalk area are adjacent in a slantwise direction on an image than when pixels are adjacent in a longitudinal or horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION:This inspecting apparatus is provided with an image sensor 3 which photographs grain particles after threshing, a small stalk area extracting means 102 for extracting a small stalk area corresponding only to small stalks based on the photographed information of the sensor 3 and, a length determining means 103 for determining the length of the small stalks based on the number of pixels belonging to the small stalk area. If the pixels belonging to the small stalk area are adjacent in a slantwise direction, the length per one pixel is made larger as compared with the case where the pixels are adjacent in a longitudinal or a lateral direction. The length of the small stalk is judged by the determining means 103 in the above manner. Accordingly, the judging error can be restricted.

It is discriminated by a length discriminating means 103 whether the length of the small rachis- branch is longer than the prescribed value. A discriminating means 101 decides existence of the small rachis-branch when the area correspondent to grain is made greater than prescribed value and a length discriminating means 103 discriminates that the length of the small rachis-branch is made longer than prescribed value.
