    Abstract: A liquid composition is described which comprises (A) a major amount of a fluorine containing hydrocarbon containing one or two carbon atoms, and (B) a minor amount of a soluble organic lubricant free of acetylenic and aromatic unsaturation and comprising at least one sulfone or sulfoxide characterized by the formulae R1(R2)SO2 (I) R1(R2)SO (II) wherein R1 and R2 are each independently hydrocarbyl groups, -R3O(O)CR4, -NR4R5 or -R3NR4R5 groups wherein R3 is a hydrocarbylene group, and R4 and R5 are each independently hydrocarbyl groups, or R1 and R2 are hydrocarbylene groups joined together to form a cyclic moiety including the sulfur atom, or R1 is a hydrocarbyl group and R2 is OR6 wherein R6 is a hydrocarbyl group. The liquid compositions exhibit excellent thermal stability and are useful particularly as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners.

    Abstract: A liquid composition is described which comprises (A) a major amount of at least one fluorine containing hydrocarbon containing one or two carbon atoms; and (B) a minor amount of at least one soluble organic lubricant comprising at least one carboxylic ester of a polyhydroxy compound containing at least 2 hydroxy groups and characterized by the general formula R¢OC(O)R1!n (I) wherein R is a hydrocarbyl group, each R1 is independently hydrogen, a straight chain lower hydrocarbyl group, a branched chain hydrocarbyl group, or a straight chain hydrocarbyl group containing from 8 to about 22 carbon atoms provided that at least one R1 group is hydrogen, a lower straight chain hydrocarbyl or a branched chain hydrocarbyl group, or a carboxylic acid- or carboxylic acid ester-containing hydrocarbon group, and n is at least 2. Liquid compositions also are described containing fluorine-containing hydrocarbons also containing other halogen such as chlorine. The liquid compositions are useful particularly as refrigeration liquids in refrigerator and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners.
