    Abstract: A liquid composition is described which comprises (A) a major amount of a fluorine containing hydrocarbon containing one or two carbon atoms, and (B) a minor amount of a soluble organic lubricant free of acetylenic and aromatic unsaturation and comprising at least one sulfone or sulfoxide characterized by the formulae R1(R2)SO2 (I) R1(R2)SO (II) wherein R1 and R2 are each independently hydrocarbyl groups, -R3O(O)CR4, -NR4R5 or -R3NR4R5 groups wherein R3 is a hydrocarbylene group, and R4 and R5 are each independently hydrocarbyl groups, or R1 and R2 are hydrocarbylene groups joined together to form a cyclic moiety including the sulfur atom, or R1 is a hydrocarbyl group and R2 is OR6 wherein R6 is a hydrocarbyl group. The liquid compositions exhibit excellent thermal stability and are useful particularly as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners.

These combinations can be used in diesel fuels for operating diesel engines equipped with exhaust system particulate traps. The present invention provides compositions which are useful as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners. The invention provides tertiary amides which are compatible with fluorine-containing hydrocarbons used in refrigerators and air conditioners. The tertiary amides act as a lubricant for air-conditioners.
