    Abstract: PURPOSE:To finely control an expansion valve by calculating plural times a target valve travel of an indoor side expansion valve according to various parameters, selecting the opening in response to the magnitude of supercooling degree by fuzzy inference means, and controlling the valve travel of the valve. CONSTITUTION:The room heating controller for a multichamber type air conditioner comprises overcooling degree detecting means 18a, room temperature detecting means 19a and temperature setting means 20. First target valve travel calculating means 22 calculates a first target valve travel S1 of an indoor motor- driven expansion valve 17 from a deviation between a detected room temperature value and a target temperature. Second target valve travel calculating means 23 calculates a second target valve travel S2 of the valve 17 from a detected overcooling degree value. The calculated results are input together with the detected overcooling degree value to fuzzy inference means 26, which selects the valve travel S2 if the overcooling degree is small, the valve travel S1 if it is intermediate and the valve travel S2 if it is large. The valve travel of the valve 17 is controlled based on the selected valve travel through valve travel control means 28.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a liquid refrigerant from gathering in a high pressure gas pipe by a method wherein the upper stream side and the downstream side of the two-way value on the high pressure side of two-way valves on the high and the low pressure side by which the operation state of an indoor machine is decided are interconnected through a bypass pipe having a pressure reducing device. CONSTITUTION:Most of high temperature high pressure gas flows through an expansion valve 7 on the indoor side to each heat-exchanger 8 on the indoor side. After the gas is vaporized for gasification, it is returned to a compressor 2 through a two-way valve 10 on the low pressure side by means of a low pressure gas pipe 12 to perform cooling operation. A part of high temperature high pressure gas delivered from the compressor 2 flows through a high pressure gas pipe 11 to a bypass pipe 14. After the gas flows to the downstream side of a two-way valve 9 on the high pressure side and is joined with a refrigerant vaporized and gasified by a heat-exchanger 8 on the indoor side, it is returned to the compressor 2. Thus, when a liquid refrigerant is present in the high pressure gas pipe 11, a trace amount of a refrigerant is caused to bypass to the low pressure side through the effect of a pressure reducing device 16, and a refrigerant is gathered in the high pressure gas pipe 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent refrigerant from being accumulated within an indoor device and enable a stable operating state to be kept by a method wherein a degree of opening of an expansion valve of an indoor being stopped in its operation or in a thermo- off state for every time during a heating operation is larger than a present degree of opening. CONSTITUTION:A degree of opening of indoor expansion valves 8a, 8b is increased in a stepwise manner of 0 to 2000 steps. In the event that an indoor device is stopped in its operation or in a thermo-off state, its step becomes 200 steps. During a heating operation, the indoor device 14a is stopped in its operation or in a thermo-off state, gas of high temperature and high pressure is heat exchanged with indoor air by an indoor side heat exchanger 9b through a four-way valve 3 and then the gas is returned to a compressor 2. At this time, as to a control over an expansion valve 8a of the indoor device 14a, a room temperature is compared with a set temperature and it is judged whether the thermo-off state is set or not. Then in the event that once passed, a degree of opening of 1000 steps is set by the indoor electric expansion valve controller 15a. Subsequent to the second time, the degree of opening of the valve becomes 200 steps. As decribed above, a degree of opening of the expansion valve 8a is opened in 1000 steps for every 10 minutes by one minute, thereby refrigerant is prevented from being accumulated in the indoor device.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To procure cooling/heating capacity even when piping is very long or an outdoor unit and a room unit are arranged different in the height by a method wherein a flow passage switching means to switch flow passages of refrigerant corresponding to an operation mode of cooling or heating is provided in a subcooling degree increasing means and a bypass circuit in the outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION:A bypass circuit 17 bypasses the upstream side and the downstream side of a subcooling degree increasing means 14, and a flow passage switching means 18 consists of a first solenoid valve 19 and a second solenoid valve 20. During heating operation, an outdoor side expansion valve 16 decreases the refrigerant pressure and liquid refrigerant flows through a liquid pipe 11, and therefore pressure loss and frosting are difficult to occur. As the refrigerant avoids the subcooling degree increasing means 14 by the flow passage switching means 18, any drawdown of pressure of high pressure due to heat discharge can be prevented. During cooling operation, the liquid refrigerant is made by the flow passage switching means 18 to be heat exchanged through the subcooling degree increasing means 14 so that a subcooling degree is increased, and therefore generation of flush gas in the upstream of room side expansion valves 8a to 8d can be prevented. Accordingly, cooling/ heating capacity can be procured, even when piping is very long and an outdoor unit and a room unit are arranged different in the height.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent troubles due to shortage of refrigerant by a method wherein before operation of a variable capacity compressor, a refrigerant saturation pressure and a detection pressure detected by a pressure detector are compared by a saturation pressure detector. CONSTITUTION:An outdoor unit controlling means 16 receives an operation starting command by communication. A saturation pressure detector 13 calculates on the basis of an outdoor air temperature detected by an outdoor air temperature detector 14 a refrigerant saturation pressure corresponding to the detected outdoor air temperature, and provides a calculation result to the outdoor unit controlling means 16. The means 16 obtains at the same time a pressure inside a freezing cycle from a pressure detector 11. Then the means 16 conducts a pressure comparison and a condition discrimination, and if the detected pressure is lower than an outdoor air saturation pressure by a prescribed value, provides an alarm to interrupt the operation. The means 16, if it does not judge any abnormal state in the condition discrimination, provides signals to the room unit controlling means 15 to start its operation, and further controls and starts a fourway valve 3, an outdoor side electric expansion valve 5, an out door fan 6 and an inverter 12.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To operate the title air conditioner while maintaining optimum operational pressure conditions by constituting a refrigerant circulating path in the form of a ring, which connects an outdoor unit to a plurality of indoor units, and connecting a liquid tube between an outdoor expansion valve and indoor expansion valves to a tube between a four-way valve and an outdoor heat exchanger by a bypass provided with an electrically operated expansion valve. CONSTITUTION:In a case where the performance of indoor units becomes extremely small and a 1-HP operation is carried out, indoor side expansion valves 8a, 8b, 8c are closed while an indoor side expansion valve 8d is opened, and the performance of compressor 2 shows a 2-HP operation in a lower limit. In this case, the pressure of condensation (or an equivalent temperature) is detected, and when it is lower than a preset value, an electrically operated expansion valve 15 is opened. Thereby, gas discharged from the compressor 2 is made to flow to two circulating paths i.e., a path to an outdoor side heat exchanger 4 and a bypass 16. At the same time, the flow rate of refrigerant passing through the outdoor side heat exchanger 4 and the bypass 16 is regulated by regulating the opening degree of the electrically operated expansion valve 15, and the pressure of condensation is made to approach the preset value while controlling the performance of condensation. This method makes it possible to carry out a cooling operation while always maintaining optimum operational pressure conditions throughout the year irrespective of the number of indoor units.

CONSTITUTION:An outdoor unit 14 comprises a compressor 2, a four-way valve 3, an outdoor heat exchanger 15, an outdoor expansion valve 5, an outdoor fan 16, and a bypass circuit 21 having a second expansion valve 17 and a second heat exchanger 18 in the line and connecting the intake pipe 20 of the compressor 2 to a liquid pipe 19 between the expansion valve 5 on the outdoor side and the expansion valve 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d on the indoor side. The second heat exchanger 18 is designed to be approximately equal is capacity to an indoor heat exchanger of smallest capacity. As a result, when an imbalance occurs between the capacity of indoor units and that of the outdoor unit or that of the compressor, for example, in the case of single indoor unit being in operation, the capacity of the indoor units can be increased in terms of refrigeration cycle with an effect to even out the capacities. This constitution makes it possible to always maintain operation pressures in an appropriate condition in both cooling and heating independent of the number of the indoor unite in operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a refrigerating cycle always in an optimum condition in indoor cooling by controlling an electrically operated expansion valve on the indoor side on the basis of a difference between the temperature determined by an air-temperature sensor at the inlet of an indoor heat exchanger and the temperature determined by a line-temperature sensor at the outlet of refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:During the indoor cooling, when the temperature of the air passing through the indoor heat exchanger 9 has increased as a result of an increase in the indoor cooling load, the amount of the vaporization of the refrigerant inside the indoor heat exchanger 9 increases and consequently the temperature at the outlet 9A in the line increases. A line- temperature sensor 17 detects this increase of temperature and transmits a signal to an indoor unit-controlling means 13. An air-temperature sensor 15 also detects an increase of air temperature and likewise transmits a signal to the indoor unit-controlling means 13. The indoor unit-controlling means 13 compares the temperature determined by the air-temperature sensor 15 with the prescribed temperature and opens an electrically operated expansion valve on the indoor side by a degree equivalent to the increase in the temperature. Simultaneously, when the difference between the air temperature and the line temperature is less than a specified temperature, the indoor unit-controlling means 13 opens said expansion valve 8 further to a specified degree. Thus it is possible to maintain the operation practically in an optimum condition at all times.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a solenoid valve prevent refrigerating machine oil from moving from one machine to another one out of operation by controlling the solenoid valve to close when one of variable compressors stops. CONSTITUTION:When a variable pole type compressor 3 stops, and only a variable compressor 2 is in operation, simultaneously a two-way valve 20 is also closed, and the pressure of coolant discharged from the variable compressor 2 is transmitted to the variable pole type compressor 3 through a manifold pipe 15 in the reverse flow direction. Therefore, a pressure drop is produced through the pipeline, resulting in an increase in the differential internal pressure between the variable compressor 2 and the variable pole type compressor 3. In addition, as refrigerating machine oil in the compressor 2 in operation is given a rotational force by the rotation of a motor, a centrifugal force acts on the oil so as to make the oil flow out. Thus, due to the differential pressure and the centrifugal force, refrigerating machine oil tends to flow from the variable compressor 2 toward the variable pole type compressor 3. However, this flow of refrigerating machine oil does not occur because the two-way valve 20 is closed.
