    Abstract: PURPOSE:To recover refrigerating machine oil within a refrigeration cycle as a refrigerant by increasing the capability of a variable capability compressor for increasing the degree of refrigerant circulation upon oil recovery operation at each every predetermined time, and setting all the expansion valves to maximum opening, and simultaneously opening a two-way valve. CONSTITUTION:The title air conditioner comprises an outdoor machine 1 including a variable capability compressor 2, a four-way valve 4, an outdoor side heat exchanger 6, an outdoor side electrically operated expansion valve 5, an outdoor side electrically operated expansion valve 5, and parallel two-way valves 16, and a plurality of room machines 7 connected parallely and including a room side heat exchanger 6 and a room side electrically operated expansion valve 8. The air conditioner further includes control means in which in oil recovery operation for recovering refrigerator oil flowing out into a refrigeration cycle the capability of the variable capability compressor 2 is increased, the outdoor side electrically operated expansion valve 5 and all room side electrically operated expansion valves 8 are opened to the maximum degrees of openings thereof, and simultaneously the two-way valve 16 is opened and further the oil recovery operation is performed when operation less than a predetermined capability is continuously performed for a predetermined time. The degree of circulation of the refrigerant is increased to raise the flow rate of the refrigerant in a piping, whereby the refrigerator oil within the refrigeration cycle can be recovered.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable execution of normal stable cooling (heating) operation by adjusting heat exchange capacity on the outdoor side to a value matching the number of running sets and an operation capacity of an indoor machine, by a method wherein two refrigerant flow passages of a heat exchanger on the outdoor side are individually or simultaneously used by means of a total operation capacity of a capacity varying compressor and a number of poles converting compressor, connected in parallel. CONSTITUTION:Two-way valves 18a and 18b are mounted to the inlet and outlet of a heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side, and two-way valves 19a and 19b are situated to the inlet and outlet of a heat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side. A ratio of a size between the heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side and the heat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side is 1:2. If a capacity of an outdoor machine 1 is 10HP, the heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side has a capacity equivalent to 3.3HP and the heat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side a capacity equivalent to 6.7HP. As noted above, by interconnecting in parallel the heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side and the hat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side, having different capacity from each other, and controlling the two-way valves mounted in the inlet and the outlet of each of the heat exchangers, the two-way valves 18a, 18b, 19a and 19b are opened and closed according to the number or running sets (total number of operation horse power) and the heat exchangers A16 and B17 on the outdoor side are switched, and this method enables execution of stable operation by means of normally proper indoor and outdoor heat exchange capacity. Control is effected by a control means 13 on the outdoor side by means of a compressor running mode.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform a stable room heating operation by operating an indoor side blower of an indoor unit mounted in a room in which a temperature therein is a predetermined temperature or lower by a gale when an outdoor side heat exchanger is frosted and started to be defrosted. CONSTITUTION:When a temperature of the atmosphere is lowered during a room heating operation, an outdoor side heat exchanger 3 is frosted and started to be defrosted, indoor side blowers 12a, 12b, 12c of indoor units 9a, 9b, 9c mounted in rooms in which a temperature therein is a predetermined temperature (e.g. 15 deg.C) or lower are operated by a gale. As a result, endothermic amounts from the units 9a, 9b, 9c are increased, the quantity of heat to be used for defrosting is increased, and a defrosting time is shortened. Thus, a decrease in room heating efficiency of the used room is reduced, and a stable room heating operation having a small variation in the room temperature can be performed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve efficiency by providing a third auxiliary heat exchanger which is formed integrally with a first auxiliary heat exchanger and conducts heat exchange between a use-side refrigeration cycle formed by connecting a second auxiliary heat exchanger conducting heat exchange, a refrigerant conveying device and a use-side heat exchanger in a circle together, and the suction-side of a compressor, a heat-source- side heat exchanger and a pressure reducing device. CONSTITUTION:While a two-phase refrigerant passing through a first auxiliary heat exchanger 8 in a cooling operation enters a compressor 1 through a heat-source-side four-way valve 2, it radiates heat in a heat-source-side heat exchanger 3 on the occasion and exchanges the heat with a condensed and liquefied refrigerant in a third auxiliary heat exchanger 13. Accordingly, the refrigerant entering the compressor 1 is evaporated and gasified through heat absorption in the third auxiliary heat exchanger before entering the compressor. Since the heat exchange is conducted in the third auxiliary heat exchanger, the refrigerant can flow in two phases through the first auxiliary heat exchanger 8. Therefore the efficiency can be improved, liquid packing is also eliminated and further the possibility of the compressor being faulty due to liquid compression is eliminated. Besides, supercooling can be attained to a large extent and, therefore, the capacity can be increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a normal operation to be carried out even if an indoor unit load is rapidly decreased by a method wherein in case that the number of ON horse power at the present time is decreased as compared with that of the previous time, a rank is calculated by a decreased rank calculating means and an inverter frequency in compliance with the rank is forcedly set. CONSTITUTION:Horse power setting means 12A to 12N may set the value of horse power of each of the indoor units. ON sensing means 13A to 13N may detect ON state of each of the indoor units. A receiving means 14 may receive information of the horse power setting means 12A to 12N and ON sensing means 13A to 13N. ON horse power calculating means 15 may calculate the horse power value of the indoor unit kept ON in response to the content of the receiving means 14. The previous horse power is compared with the present horse power by ON horsepower comparing means 16 and if the previous horse power is reduced, the reduced rank is calculated by a reduced rank calculating means 17, an inverter frequency is set and then a compressor 4 is controlled for its number of revolution. In case that an indoor air conditioning load is rapidly reduced, the inverter frequency is set forcedly to a predetermined value, so that it is possible to eliminate a non-available air conditioning phenomenon in which the air conditioner is stopped.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To control a freezing cycle always under the most suitable condition by a method wherein an interior electric expansion valve is controlled with a difference of temperatures detected by an air temperature sensor at an inlet side of an outdoor heat exchanger arranged in an outdoor device during cooling operation and a pipe temperature sensor at a suction pipe of a compressor of variable capability. CONSTITUTION:A suction pipe temperature sensor 17 closely contacted to a suction pipe 2A of a compressor 2 of variable capability and fixed in a heat-exchanging manner is electrically connected to an outdoor device controlling means, detects a temperature of the pipe 2A and sends a signal. A surrounding air temperature sensor 18 may detect a surrounding air temperature and send a signal to the outdoor device controlling means 12. The indoor device controlling means 12 may send a signal to the indoor device controlling means 13 when a difference between a surrounding air temperature and a suction air temperature is less than a predetermined temperature (for example, 10 deg.), and the indoor device controlling means 13 may open the indoor electric expansion valve 8 for a desired degree of opening. The indoor electric expansion valve is controlled in such a way as a temperature of the sucked refrigerant of the compressor of variable capability is detected and a difference between it and the outdoor surrounding air temperature is more than a specified temperature, resulting in that an over-increasing of temperature and a burn loss of the compressor caused by the increased temperature of the sucked refrigerant are prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the refrigerator oil in an oil separator from flowing into the suction pipe of a compressor while it is stopped by providing the flow channel in an oil return pipe with a two-way valve and conduction the opening and closing of the two-way valve synchronized with the operation of a compressor. CONSTITUTION:As soon as a compressor 2 is started, a two-way valve 14 installed in the flow channel of an oil return pipe 9 is opened. During the compressor 2 is operated the refrigerator oil that is discharged with coolant is separated from the coolant by an oil separator 3 and it stays once in the oil separator 3. This refrigerator oil flows through the oil return pipe 9 and its flow rate is kept at a suitable rate by a flow rate limiting device 10 and flows to a suction pipe 2B of the compressor 2 and returns into the compressor 2. At this time surplus refrigerator oil accumulates in the oil separator 3. When the compressor stops, the two-way valve 14 is closed, and the flow channel of the oil return pipe is thereby closed, and the refrigerator oil in the oil separator 3 stays as it is even if the pressure difference between the low pressure pipes is large.

CONSTITUTION:In room controllers 60A to 60C of room apparatuses 45A to 45C, sucked air temperatures are detected by sucked air temperature detectors 51A to 51C, set room temperature values set by remote controllers 54A to 54C are detected by set room temperature detectors 50A to 50C, and air conditioning loads are calculated from the set room temperature values and the sucked air temperatures by air conditioning load calculators 52A to 52C. Then, controlling widths are determined by valve opening control width determining means 62A to 62C in response to preset cooling and dehumidifying operation modes, the altering widths of the openings of motor-driven expansion valves are determined by valve opening altering width determining means 57A to 57C, thereby controlling room motor-driven expansion vale controllers 49A to 49C. In this case, since the room motor-driven expansion valve controlling widths of the dehumidifying operation mode is smaller than those of the cooling operation mode to be controlled in a reducing trend, its evaporation temperature is low, the ratio of latent heat exchanging amount is increased, and a large dehumidifying effect is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable execution of normally stable cooling (heating) operation, by a method wherein control is effected such that 2-way valves are all temporarily opened, and when opened, the 2-way valve at the inlet of a refrigerant flow passage is closed in prior to closing of the 2-way valve at the outlet of thereof, and thereafter the 2-way valve at the outlet is closed. CONSTITUTION:When an outdoor heat exchanger is switched from 5A-5B, a control means 13 on the outdoor side opens 2-way valves 6B and 7B. As a result, a refrigerant flows to both refrigerant flow passages 5A and 5B of a heat exchanger 5 on the outdoor side. Thereafter, after lapse of a specified time, a 2-way valve 6A at the inlet of the refrigerant flow passage 5A is first closed. And subsequently, a 2-way valve 7A is closed after lapse of further specified time. This motion causes switching of the heat exchanger 5 on the outdoor side to the refrigerant flow passage 5B to continue operation. As noted above, when a refrigerant flow passage is switched, all of the 2-way valves 6A, 6B, 7A and 7B are temporarily opened, and thereafter the 2-way valves 6A, 6B, 7A and 7B are closed, in order, from the inlet side where necessary. This constitution prevents an excessive increase of a pressure and temperature due to the temporarily shut-off state of a freezing cycle and the occurrence of a state to seal a refrigerant flow passage with a liquid refrigerant.
