Abstract:
A trans-septal guide catheter for providing access through the septum separating a first heart chamber from a second heart chamber that includes a n elongated guide catheter body extending between guide catheter proximal and distal ends. A distal segment of the guide catheter is adapted to be inserte d through the septum to locate the distal segment of the guide catheter within one of the first heart chamber and the second heart chamber. The catheter bo dy encloses a guide catheter lumen adapted to provide access into the one of th e first heart chamber and the second heart chamber through a guide catheter lumen proximal end opening and a guide catheter lumen distal end opening. A retention mechanism engages the septum and maintains the distal segment of t he guide catheter extending into the one of the first heart chamber and the second heart chamber.
Abstract:
An implantable electrode type lead assembly 10 of the flexible type which is particularly adapted for implantation in the cardiac tissue for applications such as use with a pacemaker. The lead assembly has an electrode head 40 which includes a fixation spiral for implantation into tissue. The spiral or rotation action of the electrode head 40 is controlled by means of an elongated torsionally wound electrical coil conductor 14, the coil extending through the lead from the proximal to the distal end thereof and carried within a silicone tube 24 which is co-extensive therewith, the tube having been especially treated to modify the slip characteristics of the internal diameter (ID) thereof for high efficiency torque transfer.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an apparatus for providing preferential glow discharge at the inside diameter of plastic tubing, particularly very small diameter tubing.
Abstract:
Modification of the antifriction properties of a primary polymer surface comprises placing the surface in a glow discharge zone containing an inert gas plasma and then in a plasma coating zone in which monomer is deposited and polymerised. Independent claims are also included: (a) for a variant of the process, in which inert gas is introduced into the inert gas plasma zone and monomer into the plasma coating zone; (b) modified polymer tubing; and (c) the equipment used.

Abstract:
A system and associated method measure monophasic action potential signals for identifying a targeted tissue location and delivering a therapy to the targeted tissue location. The system includes a hollow needle having a sharpened distal tip, a first electrode at the distal tip and a fluid delivery lumen extending through the needle from a proximal needle end to an opening in the sharpened distal tip.
Abstract:
A medical electrical lead provided with a generally isodiametric lead body. The lead body includes a first elongated plastic tube and an elongated conductor mounted in the first plastic tube. A first coil electrode is mounted exterior to and around the outer surface of the first tube and is coupled to the conductor. A second elongated plastic tube having an outer diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the first coil electrode, is mounted exterior to and around the outer surface of the first tube adjacent the first coil electrode and extends proximally therefrom. A second coil electrode having an outer diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the first coil electrode may be mounted exterior to and around the first tube proximal to the first coil electrode such that the second elongated plastic tube extends to a point adjacent the second coil electrode. A third elongated plastic tube having an outer diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the second coil electrode may be mounted exterior to the first tube adjacent the second coil electrode and extending proximally therefrom. In a preferred embodiment, the first tube is an extruded multi-lumen tube.
