    Abstract: A copying machine of the diazo type comprises a light exposure zone for exposing to light a diazo type photosensitive sheet superposed with an original, a development zone for developing the light exposed photosensitive sheet and a delivery mechanism for feeding the original and diazo type photosensitive sheet to the light exposure zone and forwarding the light exposed photosensitive sheet to the development zone. The light exposure zone includes a transparent cylinder capable of rotating while having a superposed assembly of the original and photosensitive sheet closely contacting the outer surface thereof and a heat-generating light source mounted in the interior of the transparent cylinder. The transparent cylinder has a fan for feeding cold air into the transparent cylinder from one end thereof and cooling the outer surface of the transparent cylinder substantially uniformly along the entire length thereof and a temperature-detecting mechanism thermoconductively contacting the outer surface of the transparent cylinder to detect the temperature of the outer surface. A temperature-controlling mechanism is provided to control the air feed rate of the fan in response to signals from the temperature detecting mechanism, to control the temperature of the outer surface of the transparent cylinder within a predetermined temperature range.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an electrostatic copying apparatus of type in which an electrostatic latent image is developed on the surface of a photosensitive member by applying a fine powdery developer to the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image which is transferred to a receptor sheet after which the remaining electrostatic charge on the photosensitive member is eliminated and the photosensitive member cleaned of excess developer. The cleaning step is carried out, according to the invention, by magnetically holding the same developer as used in the developing step on the surface of a developer-holding member by means of a magnet disposed within the developerholding member, moving the surface of the developer-holding member in a direction opposite to the moving direction of the surface of the photosenstive member to contact the two surfaces at reasonable relative speeds through the layer of the developer, and thus mechanically brushing the surface of the photosensitive member by the layer of the developer.

    Abstract: A transfer sheet for electrostatically transferring thereon an electrically conductive or electrically semi-conductive toner in electrostatic photography or electrostatic printing, which comprises a substrate and a toner-receiving layer formed on at least one surface of the substrate, which toner-receiving layer contains a composition comprising (A) a thermoplastic acrylic polymer having a carboxyl group content of 2 to 30 % by weight and (B) a thermosetting resin reactive with the acrylic polymer (A), and a process for preparing this transfer sheet by using an aqueous coating composition are disclosed. In this transfer sheet, the electric resistance can be maintained at a high level even under high humidity conditions and a toner image can be transferred on this transfer sheet at a high transfer efficiency.
