    Abstract: An engagement mechanism for a developing means (43) in an electrostatic copying machine, wherein an original image is guided to a photoreceptor (400) arranged on a rotary drum (41) via a focusing device (26), forming an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor (400) and the electrostatic latent image being positively changed into a toner image by the developing means (43), and the rotary drum (41) is supported in a freely rotatable fashion by the supporting member at the supporting frame body (5) which can be drawn out from a vertical front plate (18) of the copying machine body (1) and a contact surface (507, 508) controlling a horizontal position of the developing means (43) and a guide (505, 506) controlling a vertical position are provided at a fixed position of the supporting member, and furthermore the engagement member (509) rotatable to one direction from the standard position is provided movably toward the rotary drum (41) at the standard position with a constant impetus thereto separately from the supporting member and the developing means (43) is arranged movably toward the rotary drum (41) by engaging an engagement part formed at a fixed position of the engagement member (509) aforementioned with an engagement part formed at the fixed position of the developing means (43).

    Abstract: A cleaning device for an electrostatic photographic copying machine having a sensitive drum provided with a paper-stripping groove at one side thereof includes an upper blade for stripping residual toner from the sensitive drum, a lower blade for guiding the thus stripped toner from the surface of the sensitive drum toward a toner withdrawing device, and a groove cover covering the paper-stripping groove at least from the upper blade to the lower blade so that the groove cover will be in contact with the lower blade. Residual toner which is stripped from the surface of the sensitive drum is prevented from entering the paper stripping groove by the groove cover.

    Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus in which a copying paper cassette (502),including a box-like cassette casing (510) having an opening in a part of its top surface portion and a plurality of sheet-like copying papers (528) accommodated in a stacked state in said casing, is inserted in a cassette- receiving section (504) formed in a housing of the apparatus. Paper feed rollers (54) rotatably mounted in the cassette-receiving section (504) are adapted for engagement with the copying paper sheets through said opening in said cassette casing. A bottom plate (518) is disposed on a bottom wall (508) of the cassette casing so that at least its forward end portion can move freely up and down. Between the cassette casing and the bottom plate (518) a resilient spring (526) is interposed which acts on a front end portion of the bottom plate (518). The bottom plate and/or the cassette casing have formed therein a holding means (534) for holding at least the front end portion of the bottom plate in its lowered position against the resistance of the spring (526) and the cassette-receiving section carries a releasing means (544) which releases the holding action of the holding means (534) upon the insertion of the cassette into the cassette- receiving section (504).
