Abstract: The present invention relates to solid catalyst components for olefin polymerization formed by prepolymerizing at least two types of alpha -olefin on an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a solid titanium catalyst component, an organometallic compound catalyst component, and if necessary, an electron donor, to olefin polymerization catalyst comprising said soild catalyst component for olefin polymerization, an organometallic compound catalyst component, and if necessary, an electron donor, and to processes for olefin polymerization using said olefin polymerization catalyst. According to the present invention, there can be manufactured olefin polymer particles having low adhesive among the polymer particles as well as good particle distribution and excellent granular properties even when they contain a large amount of an amorphous olefin polymer portion.

Abstract: Catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising (A) a compound of a transition metal in Group IVB of the periodic table which contains a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C1) a Broensted acid; (C2) a material obtainable by contacting (c-1) a magnesium compound with (c-2) an electron donor; or (C3) a material obtainable by contacting (c-1), a magnesium compound, (c-2) an electron donor and (c-3) an organometallic compound with each other. Processes for polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the above-mentioned catalysts are excellent in olefin polymerization activity and economical efficiency.

Abstract: A catalyst for use in the polymerization of at least one olefin comprising [A] a catalyst component comprising a compound of a transition metal of Group IVB of the Periodic Table having a ligand containing a -SO3R group wherein R is an alkyl group, an alkyl group substituted with a halogen atom, an aryl group, or an aryl group substituted with a halogen atom or an alkyl group, and a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, and [B] an organoaluminum oxy-compound. This provides an olefin polymer having excellent particle properties at high polymerization activities, and enables the production of a copolymer having a narrow composition distribution. The transition metal compound preferably is a novel compound of the formula (Cp is a group having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, R is an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, and X is SO3R, a halogen atom, R, OR, NRn, S(O)qR, SiR3 or P(O)qR3, wherein n = 1, 2 or 3; q = 0, 1 or 2).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel ethylene/pentene-1 copolymer whose molded film has a good balance between impact resistance and tear properties and high transparency, also is prominently reduced in a variation of the transparency even after subjected to a heat treatment, and further shows high blocking resistance, provided that the copolymer fulfills specific requisites. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the above-mentioned ethylene/pentene-1 copolymer and a formulation of the ethylene/pentene-1 copolymer composition using a stabilizer. According to the invention, there can be obtained an ethylene/pentene-1 copolymer composition which is excellent in heat stability in the molding stage, long-term heat stability and weatherability.

Abstract: A catalyst composition for the polymerization or copolymerization of olefins composed of(A) a titanium component (a-1) or (a-2),(a-1) a highly active titanium component containing titanium, magnesium and halogen as essential ingredients, or(a-2) a highly active titanium catalyst component obtained by treating component (a-1) with an organic compound containing active hydrogen bonded to oxygen, and(B) an organoaluminum compound component, characterised in that(i) when component (A) is the component (a-1), component (B) is an organoaluminum compound component obtained by treating a halogen-containing organoaluminum compound having a halogen/Al atomic ratio of at least 1/1 but less than 2/1 with a compound selected from water and organic compounds having active hydrogen bonded to oxygen, and(ii) when component (A) is the component (a-2), the component (B) is a halogen-containing organoaluminum compound having a halogen/Al atomic ratio of at least 1/1 but less than 2/1, and the ratio of the amount (x) of the organic compound having active hydrogen atom bonded to oxygen and/or oxygen-containing group derived from said organic compound to the amount (y) of titanium x:y, is 4-100:1.
