Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition of high heat distortion temperature with no discoloration, easy to process, suitable as a packaging material, by polymerization of a monomer mixture of specified composition containing an unsaturated nitrile monomer in the presence of a conjugated diene rubbery polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by polymerization, in the presence of (A) 1-30pts.wt. of a conjugated diene rubbery polymer, of 100pts.wt. of a monomer mixture made up of (B) 60-90wt.% of an unsaturated nitrile monomer [pref., (meth)acrylonitrile], (C) 20-5wt.% of an acrylic alkyl ester (pref., methyl acrylate) and (D) 10-0wt.% of a 1-4C methacrylic alkyl ester (pref., methyl methacrylate) in an aqueous medium. The conjugated diene monomer constituting the component A is pref. 1,3-butadiene.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily and simply obtain aromatic polyamide pulp having an improved shape, by specifying raw materials, a solvent, a composition of a coagulating solution and a method of extruding dope into the coagulating solution. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide synthesized from an aromatic polyfunctional isocyanate and an aromatic polyfunctional carboxylic acid is dissolved in N,N'-dimethylethyleneurea to give dope. The dope and a mixed solution of N,N'-dimethylethyleneurea and a non-solvent of the aromatic polyamide are processed into binary fluid and extruded through a binary fluid nozzle. The coagulating solution consists of N,N'-dimethylethyleneurea and the non- solvent of the aromatic polyamide. In a pulp-forming bath, the dope is always subjected to shearing and beating action by the fresh coagulating solution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide of high molecular weight, having specific repeating units, and containing almost no network structure easily at a low cost, by reacting a specific polyfunctional carboxylic acid with a diisocyanate in the presence of an alkaline metallic hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:(A) One or more of a dicarboxylic acid of formulaI(R is >=2C bifunctional group), e.g. adipic acid, a tricarboxylic acid of formula II (R is >=3C trifunctional group) e.g. pentane-1,2,5-tricarboxylic acid or a tetracarboxylic acid of formula III (R is >=4C tetrafunctional group), e.g. butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic acid, are reacted with (B) a diisocyanate of formula IV (R is the same as R ), e.g. hexamethylene-1,6-diisocyanate, at 0.7-1.3mol ratio between the components (B) and (A) in the presence of a compound of the formula MOH (M is an alkali metal of Group IA in the periodic table) to give the aimed polyamide having one or more repeating units of formulas V, VI and VII.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyamide having high polymerization degree, with improved rate of reaction and low deterioration of the polymer, by reacting a specific di-, tri- or tetra-carboxylic acid with a diisocyanate in the presence of an alkali metal (bi)carbonate. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide containing at least one recurring unit of formula VII-IX is prepared by polymerizing (A) at least one di-(tri or tetra)carboxylic acid of formulaI, II or III (e.g. adipic acid, pentane-1,2,5-tricarboxylic acid, butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic acid, etc.) with (B) at least one diisocyanate of flumula IV (e.g. 1,2-diisocyanatoethane) in the presence of an alkali metal (bi) carbonate of formula V or VI (e.g. lithium carbonate) in an anhydrous organic polar solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethylacetamide) in an anhydrous inert gas atmosphere at 50-200 deg.C for about 1-20hr while removing the by-product (carbon dioxide gas) from the system.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide having a high polymerization degree at high reaction rate industrially advantageously, by reacting a specific dicarboxylic acid with a diisocyanate in the presence of a monoalkali dicarboxylate. CONSTITUTION:One or more dicarboxylic acids (e.g., adipic acid, etc.) shown by the formulaI(R1 is bivalent group containing at least 2C) are reacted with one or more diisocyanates (e.g., tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate, etc.) shown by the formula II (R2 is bivalent group containing at least 2C) in the presence of a monoalkali metal dicarboxylate (e.g., mono sodium adipate, etc.) shown by the formula III (R11 is as shown for R1; M is alkali metal) to give a polyamide having a repeating unit shown by the formula IV. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a water-free organic polar solvent (e.g., N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, etc.) in an inert gas flow at 20-250 deg.C while evolved CO2 being removed.

CONSTITUTION:A polyhalogenated benzene of formula I: (X is Cl, Br, or I; R is H or methyl group; n is an integer 3-6), e.g. 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene, is reacted with an inorganic cyano compound, e.g. sodium cyanide, in the presence of cupric ions, e.g. cupric sulfate, in a polar organic solvent to give a compound of formula II. An amide solvent, preferably N-methyl-pyrrolidone, may be cited as the polar organic solvent.
