Abstract: A process for producing polyamide-polyimide block copolymer films or polyamide-polyimide copolymer films having excellent thermal resistance and mechanical strength, which comprises casting a solvent solution of a polyamide-polyamide acid block copolymer or a polyamide-polyamide acid copolymer on a substrate, converting the deposited thin layer of the solution into a self-supporting film, regulating the residual solvent content of the film by heating or other means, if necessary, and then heating the film at a temperature of 320.degree. to 500.degree.C for a specified period of time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-resistant laminated molded article without damaging excellent properties of a polyimide resin by using a new prepreg sheet having excellent strength at high temperature prepared from a specific polyamic acid and a reinforcing fiber material by a specific method. CONSTITUTION:First, a solution of a polyamic acid having a unit of formula I (R1 is bifunctional group selected from >=2C aliphatic group, monocyclic aromatic group, etc.; R2 is tetrafunctional group selected from >=2C aliphatic group, heterocyclic group, etc.; Y is H, alkyl, etc.) in an organic solvent is impregnated into a reinforcing fiber material and the solvent contained is extracted with an extracting solvent. Then the prepreg sheet impregnated with the polyamide is heated and dried to remove the residual solvent and to imidate the polyamic acid. Finally, the prepared prepreg sheet impregnated with the polyimide resin having a unit of formula II is laminated and heated to >= the glass transition temperature of the polyimide under pressure. The polyamic acid is preferably obtained by 3,3'-diaminobenzophenone and 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride.

At this time, air curtains 5, 5' are employed to hold the concn. of oxygen in the furnace to 1-0.001vol% to perform imidation to set the bonding strength of a metal foil layer and a plastic layer to 1kg/cm or more as the peel strength of both layers.
