    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring device which can be smoothly switched from aiming to range-finding without any move regarding the distance measuring device for measuring distance based on the propagation delay in returning of a measurement wave by transmitting the measurement wave. SOLUTION: The device has a transmission means 1 for transmitting a measurement wave in a specific direction, a reception means 2 for receiving a measurement wave returning in a specific direction, and a distance calculation means 3 for calculating the distance to an object located in a specific direction based on the propagation delay of a measurement wave which is received by the reception means 2. In this case, the device has a switch means 4 for generating a first signal by external operation and for generating a second signal by canceling the external operation, the transmission means 1 discharges aiming light in the specific direction according to the first signal generated by the switch means 4, and the distance calculation means 3 measures distance according to the second signal generated by the switch means 4.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a radar system by which the detecting direction of a target can be determined stably and accurately and be also changed flexibly and easily without being dependent upon the sweep rate and sweep cycle of the radar, concerning a radar system for detecting a target while sweeping the measuring wave in a transmitting direction or receiving direction. CONSTITUTION: This system is provided with a transmitting means 1 for transmitting measuring waves, a receiving means 2 that receives the reflecting wave reflecting on a target among the measuring waves transmitting from the means 1, a sweeping means 3 that sweeps the measuring waves from the means in the transmitting direction or the reflecting waves from the means 2 in the receiving direction, and a target detecting means 4 that detects the target based on the reflecting waves received by the means 2. The means 1 is configured in a manner that it transmits the measuring waves when the sweeping direction swept by the means 3 matches with the predetermined detecting direction.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To accurately find the probability of the existence of a target on the road on which a vehicle is traveling in the traveling direction while detecting the target in accordance with the change of the running state of the vehicle by providing a curvature detecting means which detects the radius of curvature of the road. CONSTITUTION: A radar position measuring means 1 finds the distance and direction to a target existing in the area covered by measuring waves by transmitting the waves in the traveling direction of a vehicle and receiving reflected waves from the target. A curvature detecting means 2 detects the radius of curvature of the vehicle running road based on the speed and lateral acceleration of the vehicle and finds the presumed passing extent of the vehicle along a circular arm. An interval calculating means 3 calculates the interval which is the spatial distance between the circular arc and the target. A judging means 4 estimated that the probability of the existence of the target on the road is high by finding that the possibility of the target existing within the passing extent of the vehicle becomes higher as the interval between the circular arc and target becomes shorter. Therefore, the degree of such a risk that the vehicle comes into collision with the target can be accurately judged.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the precision of decision making on the degree of danger of a vehicle and to make the vehicle travel safer by considering not only the relation between the vehicle and a 1st object in front of the vehicle, but also the relation between the vehicle and a 2nd object in front of the vehicle when the degree of danger of the vehicle is to be decided. CONSTITUTION:A distance sensor 1 measures the distance from its own vehicle to a 1st vehicle and the distance from its own vehicle to a 2nd vehicle at predetermined intervals of time and outputs 1st distance information 101 and 2nd distance information 102. A relative speed calculation part 3 calculates the 1st relative speed 103 between this vehicle and the 1st vehicle from 1st distance information (111) as a last measurement result, the 1st distance information 101 as the current measurement result, and the measurement time interval. Further, the 2nd relative speed 104 between the 1st vehicle and 2nd vehicle is calculated from the 1st distance information 111, 2nd distance information (112), 1s distance information 101, 2nd distance information 102, and the measurement time interval. A danger degree decision part 4 decides the degree of danger between its own vehicle and the 1st vehicle and outputs an alarm generation signal 106.

CONSTITUTION:From a light emitting element 8, light is cast into a protective cover glass 6, and the light transmitted by the cover glass 6 while making total reflection inside of the glass is received by another light receiving element 9, and a self-diagnostic device 10 judges whether any failure exists in the cover glass 6 on the basis of the level of the sensing signal given by this light receiving element 9. This enables sensing of glass contamination over a wide range and also sensing even breakage of the glass 6.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily measure latitude with simple constitution regardless of measurement conditions by measuring the latitude from a difference in sensitivity according to the revolution sensing ability of an optical gyro for the earth. CONSTITUTION:This instrument is set on a tripod stood on the equator 11 of the earth E so that the collimation axis of a telescope 4 is horizontal through a bubble tube 4a, and the meter is fixed through a leg 6 for fitting. Then an external frame 1 is rotated to find the position where a 1st gyro on a plane that the winding surface of the wound optical fiber of a 1st optical fiber gyro in the external frame 1 crosses at right angles in the revolving direction of the earth has zero sensitivity. Then an internal frame 3 is rotated along the inner periphery of the external frame 1 so that the ring center axes cross each other at right angles to find the position where a 2nd optical fiber gyro whose optical fiber winding surface is parallel to the revolving direction of the earth has the maximum sensitivity. Then similar operation is performed at latitude (h) and then the internal frame 3 rotates by variation in the perpendicular direction between the installation positions relatively to the external frame 1, so that the latitude is displayed on a scale 5 with an index 7.
