Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for wireless communications using preconfigured uplink resources. Generally, the described techniques provide for enhancement of communication features including frequency hopping, an uplink control channel, coverage enhancement, timing advance, uplink power control, reconfiguration, a downlink control channel, a downlink data channel, retransmissions, or subcarrier spacing for a UE in idle mode. The UE may receive an uplink resource configuration for uplink communications in idle mode, the uplink resource configuration comprising an indicator associated with allocated resources for the uplink communications in idle mode and a set of parameters. The UE may transmit, while in idle mode, a first uplink transmission associated with a transport block on the allocated resources and according to one or more of the parameters, and monitor for a response to the first uplink transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device (such as a machine type communications (MTC) device) may determine one or more scheduling parameters for a system information block (SIB) based on the bandwidth or duplexing configuration of a communication link. The scheduling parameters may include a repetition level, a transport block size, a subframe index, or the like; and the scheduling parameters may depend on signaling in a broadcast communication (e.g., a master information block (MIB)) or a frequency hopping configuration, or both. In some cases, a broadcast channel may be scheduled during a transmission time interval (TTI) within a narrowband region of a system bandwidth. Available resources within the TTI may be identified and the SIB may be mapped to the available resources within the narrowband region based on the location of the broadcast information.

Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap for a scheduled communication involving multiple, different TBs. For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between two or more PDSCHs that are scheduled by a same DCI based at least in part on a UE capability, such as a processing time or a processing mode. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between a last PDSCH and a next PDCCH based at least in part on the UE capability. The gap(s) may permit the UE to successfully receive and/or decode multiple PDSCHs and/or PDCCHs in view of the limitations imposed by the UEs processing time or processing mode. In this way, efficiency of PDSCH/PDCCH resource utilization may be improved, the likelihood of a failed PDCCH transmission is reduced, and network efficiency is improved.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a downlink control information (DCI) block including DCI for a set of transport blocks scheduled for the UE, the DCI including a set of fields. The UE may decode the DCI block to obtain the DCI for the set of transport blocks, where at least two fields of the downlink control information are jointly decoded according to an encoding scheme, and where each possible output of the encoding scheme corresponds to a jointly valid combination of the at least two fields. The UE may receive the set of transport blocks from a base station based on the DCI.
