Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing wireless communications. In one method, a mobile device may determine to transition to a relay status. The relay status may indicate a capability of the mobile device to function as a relay device between at least one other mobile device and a base station. A peer discovery signal that indicates the relay status may then be transmitted. In another method, a mobile device may broadcast an out-of-coverage status indicator in a first peer discovery signal. A second peer discovery signal may be received from at least one other mobile device. The second peer discovery signal may indicate a capability of the at least one other mobile device to function as a relay device.

Abstract: Low latency enhancements for communication systems, including autonomous driving and/or selection scenarios, are provided. A method for communication includes monitoring communication resources in a communication system, determining a set of candidate resources to use for subsequent transmission of information within a time window such that the time window is minimized based on a desired communication latency parameter that considers at least one or more of communication channel congestion and a priority of transmission, determining a set of lowest energy resources from the set of candidate resources, selecting a low energy resource from the set of lowest energy resources, and transmitting data on the selected low energy resource. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for transmission control include receiving, at a non-access stratum protocol layer, a packet including a reliability request from an application, and determining if the application is authorized to make the reliability request. Further, the aspects include, in response to determining the application is authorized to make the reliability request, performing one of: sending the packet including the reliability request to an access stratum protocol layer, or sending the packet with a modified reliability request to the second protocol layer. Additionally, the aspects include transmitting the packet. Further aspects describe a control plane delivery mechanism for provisioning UE, such as with policies and/or configurations including transmission control reliability authorization information.

Abstract: A network architecture is disclosed with support for location services (LCS). A radio access network (RAN) node receives a registration request from a user equipment (UE), indicating that the UE supports a ranging based location service session. The RAN node farther receives an internal identifier (ID) for identifying information associated with the UE in communication between the RAN node and a core network during the ranging based location service session. The RAN node allocates radio resources to the UE for performing a ranging operation involving a plurality of devices including the UE, and associates the radio resources with the internal ID of the UE for identifying location results. Then the RAN node informs the UE of the radio resources allocated for the ranging operation.
