    Abstract: Techniques are provided for configuring a user equipment (UE) to operate as a reference node. An example method of operating a user equipment as a reference node includes providing an indication of one or more reference node configuration options to a network entity, the one or more reference node configuration options comprising a registration configuration option indicating the user equipment is registered on a network as a reference node and a regular user equipment, receiving an indication to obtain positioning measurements based on the one or more reference node configuration options, obtaining one or more positioning measurements, and reporting the one or more positioning measurements to a positioning entity.

    Abstract: Described are methods, systems, and devices for processing a Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) or other reference signal usable for determining a position of a User Equipment (UE). In some aspects, a UE is configured to report to a network entity information indicating a number of receive (Rx) chains used to determine one or more positioning measurements, thereby indicating the amount of uncertainty in the positioning measurement(s) and the precision of a resulting position estimate. In some aspects, a UE is configured to receive multiple PRS signals that at least partially overlap in time and to process each PRS using a separate set of Rx chains to obtain positioning measurements. As part of the processing of a PRS, the UE may align a search window to the PRS. In this manner, different search windows can be maintained for different PRS signals to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio of each PRS.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a target user equipment, UE, receives discovery messages (1602) from peer UEs. Each discovery message indicates a subset of capabilities associated with a peer UE to participate in a sidelink positioning session. The target UE sends an interest message (1604) to the peer UEs indicating that the target UE intends to have the peer UEs participate in the sidelink positioning session and receives capability messages (1606) from the peer UEs indicating additional capabilities associated with each of the peer UEs. The target UE sends a selection message (1608) to at least one peer UE to participate in the sidelink positioning session based on the subset of capabilities and the additional capabilities associated with the at least one peer UE. The selection message requests the at least one peer UE participate in the sidelink positioning session with the target UE.

    Abstract: Information inherently conveyed in the hierarchical structure of a positioning frequency layer is leveraged to determine a sequence identifier unique to each Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) resource of a sequence of PRS resources used in a positioning session of a user equipment (UE). This unique sequence number can then be used in the reporting of measurement data by the UE or other reporting device to a location server. As such, embodiments herein effectively provide means for compressing identification information included in position measurement reporting to the location server.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) associated with a wireless network determines a first reference signal time difference value.     Abstract: A mobile device supports positioning with positioning reference signals (PRS) on multiple beam by dividing the PRS processing into two separate modes, an acquisition mode and a tracking mode. In acquisition mode, the mobile device performs a fast scan of all of the beams from a base station transmitting PRS using less than the full set of resources for the PRS, i.e., less than the full bandwidth and/or less than the full number of repetitions of the PRS. The mobile device may select the best beams to use for positioning, e.g., based on signal strength metric. In tracking mode, the mobile device tracks the PRS from only the selected beams using the full set of resources for the PRS. The mobile device may return to acquisition mode after a predetermined number of positioning occasions or if the selected beams are no longer valid due to movement or change in conditions.

    Abstract: Disclosed are various techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) measures, during a measurement period that spans multiple measurement opportunities, multiple positioning reference signal (PRS) instances, each PRS instance occupying a different measurement opportunity, to produce a plurality of positioning measurements. A PRS instance can be a PRS resource, a PRS resource set, a PRS frequency layer, a transmission/reception point, or combinations thereof. For each PRS instance measured, the UE determines whether the PRS instance was punctured. Upon a determination that the PRS instance was punctured, the UE discards at least a portion of the positioning measurement and modifies the measurement period, e.g., by restarting the measurement period or extending the measurement period in order to take a measurement of another PRS instance.

    Abstract: Disclosed are various techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE 302) may receive, from a network entity (306), first information identifying positioning reference signal (PRS) resources (608). The UE may receive, from a base station (304), second information identifying sounding reference signal (SRS) resources (610). The UE may select, from PRS resources identified by the first information, PRS resources that satisfy a PRS-SRS proximity requirement with regard to at least one SRS resource identified by the second information (612). The UE may use the selected PRS resources at least for performing UE Rx-Tx measurements (618). In another aspect, a network entity may transmit, to a UE, first information identifying PRS resources. The network entity may transmit, to the UE, second information specifying a number of PRS resources to be used by the UE at least for performing UE Rx-Tx measurements.
