    Abstract: The connection between a user equipment (UE) and a base station may be authenticated in the physical layer, and the presence of an unauthorized intervening device may be identified based on predicted measurement values of downlink reference signals and the actual measurement values for the current downlink reference signals. The predicted measurement values are produced based on previous measurements of downlink reference signals that are known to be received from the base station, e.g., after upper layer initial authentication. The predicted values may be for positioning measurements, channel measurements, or velocity or direction of travel measurements, or a combination thereof. A difference between the predicted and actual measurement values indicates that the previously received reference signals and the currently received reference signals are not from the same entity, and thus, an intervening entity is likely present in the communication channel performing a man in the middle or replay attack.

    Abstract: A method of user equipment (UE) positioning includes receiving positioning assistance data associated with a Transmission Reception Point (TRP), such as an expected Reference Signal Time difference (RSTD) between a reference cell and the TRP. The method also includes capturing, based on at least the expected RSTD, a first portion of reference signals from the TRP, where, at the UE, the first portion of the reference signals does not overlap in time with non-reference signals from the reference cell. The method further includes determining a first Time of Arrival (TOA) of the reference signals from the TRP based on the first portion of the reference signals.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which a network node (e.g., a base station, gNB, etc.) may be allowed to puncture a reference signal (RS) to deliver high priority data (e.g., URLLC data) to a user equipment (UE) that is not currently being served by the network node. The RS may comprise a puncturable subset and an unpuncturable subset. The puncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are allowed to be punctured, and the unpuncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are prohibited from being punctured. The network node may transmit the RS such that unpuncturable subset indicates whether or not the puncturable subset of the RS has or has not been punctured. In this way, the network node can quickly inform whether or not the RS has been punctured to carry high priority data.
