Abstract:
Systems and methods for determining primary channel availability are disclosed. One aspect is a method in a wireless communications system including a first primary channel having first and second frequency spectrum bandwidths. The second frequency spectrum bandwidth includes the first frequency spectrum bandwidth. The method includes determining whether a first preamble has been detected on the second primary channel during a first threshold period of time, determining whether a second preamble has been detected on the first primary channel during a second threshold period of time, determining whether a guard interval has been detected on the second primary channel during a third threshold period of time, determining whether the second primary channel is idle based at least in part on detection of the first preamble, the second preamble and the guard interval, and transmitting a wireless message based at least in part on whether the second primary channel is idle.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating frames in a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes determining a protocol version field value for a frame control field of a wireless message, generating the frame control field, the frame control field generated to comprise a protocol version field having the protocol version field value, and a type field having a length based on the protocol version field value, generating the wireless message, the wireless message comprising a media access control header, the media access control header comprising the frame control field; and transmitting the wireless frame.
Abstract:
Techniques for proving enterprise mode security for relays are disclosed. For example, enterprise mode security based on IEEE 802.1x is provided for relays or other similar devices to extend the coverage of access point hotspots or other similar access point use cases. According to one aspect, a relay incorporates an authentication client associated with an authentication server. According to another aspect, a four address format is employed for tunneling messages via a relay between a station and an access point. According to another aspect, a cryptographic master key associated with an access point and a station is provided to a relay to enable the relay to be an authenticator for the station.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for wireless communications are disclosed. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communications includes a receiver configured to wirelessly receive a message comprising a time for the apparatus to wake up and instructions to execute an action in response to receiving a paging frame from a wireless communication device. The receiver is further configured to receive the paging frame from the wireless communication device. The apparatus further includes a processor configured to execute the action in response to receiving the paging frame. In one implementation, receiving the paging frame comprises comparing an address of the paging frame with an address of the apparatus. The action may include one or more of sending a power save poll frame, waiting for packet reception, receiving the beacon, and receiving the delivery traffic indication message beacon.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for formatting frames in neighborhood aware networks are described herein. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of communicating in a wireless neighborhood aware network (NAN). The method includes determining a discovery period. The method further includes generating a discovery window information element indicating a start time of a discovery window. The method further includes generating a NAN beacon or other sync frame comprising the discovery period and the discovery window information element. The method further includes transmitting, at a wireless device, the NAN beacon or other sync frame during the discovery window.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for wireless communication are disclosed. In one aspect an access point includes a processor configured to generate a message identifying a time period in which the access point will enter a power save mode and ignore a packet sent from any wireless station, and a transmitter connected to the processor and configured to transmit the message to one or more wireless stations associated with the access point.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for communicating a compressed beacon are described herein. A method of communicating in a wireless network includes transmitting, at an access point, a full beacon at a first multiple of a beacon interval. A compressed beacon is transmitted by the access point at each beacon interval that is not the first multiple of the beacon interval. Another method of communicating in a wireless network includes receiving, at a wireless device, a full beacon at a first multiple of a beacon interval. A compressed beacon is received at a beacon interval that is not the first multiple of the beacon interval.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices for paging message enhancement, for example, by allowing packets to accumulate in an access point before sending them to a station. In some implementations, a station may not have an immediate use for a packet waiting in an access point's buffer. The station may save energy and reduce medium occupancy by allowing packets to accumulate at the access point and then receiving the accumulated packets in accordance with certain criteria. Such criteria for accumulation may be based on a Quality of Service (QoS) category, the station address, or the station type. The station may set accumulation parameters, such as a maximum occupied buffer size or a maximum time for which a station's packets are delayed for accumulation.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating frames having a plurality of types are described herein. In some aspects, the frames include a compressed frame, such as a compressed management frame or a compressed control frame. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a management frame including a local identifier or a global identifier for a transmitter of the management frame based on a link type over which the management frame is transmitted, a local identifier or a global identifier for a recipient of the management frame based on the link type, a frame check sequence, and information indicating the link type. The method further includes transmitting the management frame.
Abstract:
A method includes in response to receiving a modified enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) parameter set IE at a station, determining a value of an EDCA parameter based on a delta value (e.g. a value for which to multiply a current EDCA parameter) in the modified EDCA parameter set IE and based on a base (default) value of the EDCA parameter. Receiving two sets of EDCA parameters and selecting one of them according to the characteristics of the station. Receiving a EDCA parameter set and an override indication (i.e. indicating that the station must adopt the EDCA parameter set, thereby avoiding at the station to calculate the parameter set by itself). Receiving a EDCA parameter set and an filter condidion (e.g. a subset of station capabilities, like one or more global identifiers (GIDS) of one or more stations or operation modes of the STAs). Determine whether to adopt an EDCA parameter set based on a toggle indication.
