Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, to determine a mobility status of a user equipment (UE), the UE may perform filtering or post-processing on one or more beam metrics. The UE may generate first order statistics for the beam metrics, and may use the first order statistics to generate second order statistics. Based on whether the second order statistics for the beam metrics converge, based on whether a detected beam metric converges at zero or a non-zero value, or any combination thereof, the UE may determine a mobility status for the UE. The UE may select appropriate beam management parameter values based on the determined mobility status.

Abstract: A UE is configured to determine a set of parameters associated with receiving the SSBs, the set of parameters including a first parameter bitmap associated with a serving cell, a second parameter bitmap associated with the neighbor cell, and the SMTC. The UEis configured to determine a search window for searching the received SSBs based on the SMTC and at least one of the first parameter bitmap or the second parameter bitmap. The UE may measure the SSBs searched during the determined search window and send measurement results associated with at least a subset of the measured SSBs to the base station. The UE may also prune measurements to generate the measurement results by removing measurements associated with SSBs received in slots that are not indicated to expect SSBs, based on the first parameter bitmap, the second first parameter bitmap, or the SMTC.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may performing a search procedure using a first receive beam. The UE may detect, based on performing the search procedure, a synchronization signal block corresponding to a transmit beam in a first synchronization signal burst set transmitted by a base station. The EE may perform a measurement procedure on a second synchronization signal burst set using a second receive beam to measure the transmit beam, where the second synchronization signal burst set is transmitted subsequently to the first synchronization signal burst set. In some cases, the UE may perform a measurement procedure for each configured receive beam. The UE may perform a beam refinement procedure after measuring each configured receive beam.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for receive beam switching for neighbor cell measurement. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining a first receive beam of a plurality of receive beams to use for reception during a first synchronization signal block (SSB) duration within a synchronization signal block set (SSBS) duration. The method includes determining a second receive beam of the plurality of receive beams to use for reception during a second SSB duration within the SSBS duration. The UE may measure one or more first signals transmitted by a serving cell and/or one or more neighbor cells with the first receive beam during the first SSB duration and measure one or more second signals transmitted by the serving cell and/or the one or more neighbor cells with the second receive beam during the second SSB duration.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE). The method includes selecting, for each of a plurality of periodic search opportunities, one receive beam of a plurality of receive beams for receiving at least one synchronization signal. The plurality of periodic search opportunities includes a plurality of regular search opportunities and a plurality of prioritized search opportunities. The plurality of receive beams includes at least one prioritized receive beam and at least one additional receive beam. The selecting includes selecting from the at least one prioritized receive beam for each of the plurality of prioritized search opportunities; and selecting from the plurality of receive beams for each of the plurality of regular search opportunities. The method further includes receiving, at each of the plurality of periodic search opportunities, the corresponding at least one synchronization signal using the corresponding selected receive beam.

Abstract: The choice of a transmit (Tx)-Receive (Rx) beam pair out of many available beam pairs between a base station and a millimeter wave (mmW)-capable UE is directly related to the performance of transmission between the base station and the UE. A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium at a transmitting user equipment (UE) capable of (mmW) communication are disclosed to determine a new serving Tx-Rx beam pair using an artificial neural network. The UE may predict a set of good Tx-Rx beam pairs using the artificial neural network, wherein the artificial neural network comprises an input layer, a middle layer, and an output layer. The UE may then determine the new serving Tx-Rx beam pair based on the set of good Tx-Rx beam pairs.
