Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform plural kinds of measurement with one spectroscope by using plural attachable and detachable adapters in a sample chamber of the spectroscope using a one-dimensional image pickup element as the photodetector. CONSTITUTION:When a device is used for reflected light measurement of a sample, an optical fiber holder H2 where two optical fibers FX1 and FX2 are held in a block is used. This block has apertures in both faces in the direction of an optical axis X of a spectroscope 1, and two L-shaped passages connected from respective apertures to two apertures of the block are formed in the block, and one ends of fibers FX1 and FX2 are fixed to two apertures, and condensing mirrors M1 and M2 are provided at 45 deg. to them. Since this holder H2 is used, a sample B is irradiated with the light of a light source 5 through the mirror M1 and the fiber FX1. The reflected light from the sample B is condensed on a slit S of the spectroscope 1 through the fiber FX2 and the holder H2 by the mirror M2, and the reflectivity of the sample B is measured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower a noise level by providing two array type photodetectors on the exit surface of a spectrograph, detecting sample light and reference light with same wavelength at the same time and calculating absorbance, and canceling variation in the quantity of light of a light source sufficiently. CONSTITUTION:The sample light which passes through a sample cell 2 and the reference light which passes through a reference cell 3 are incident on a concave diffraction grating 12 which constitutes the spectrograph through a slit 14a. A sample-side photodiode array 16 as an array type photodetector is provided on the exit surface of the spectrograph including the grating 12 at the sample-side image formation position of the slit 14a. A reference-side photodiode array 18 as an array type detector is provided at the reference-side image formation position of the slit 14a. A signal processor 20 inputs the detection signals of the same wavelength parts of the arrays 16 and 18 at the same time to calculate the absorbance. Consequently, the noise level is lowered.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high sensitivity, by using light source for generating beam absorbable in an ultraviolet region as an exciting light source for irradiating detection cell. CONSTITUTION:Beam from a mercury xenon lamp 1 is passed through a spectrometer 4, a chopper 5, a mirror 7, a beam splitter 8 and a slit member 9 to irradiate a cell 2 and incident ultraviolet rays are absorbed. Because heat is generated in the cell 2 by this absorption and refractive index is changed, beam from a monitor laser beam source 10 is diffused. The light from the mercury xenon lamp 1 is removed by a cut filter 2 and a part of monitor laser beam is taken by a pinhole 11 to be detected by a photodiode 13. By this method, high sensitivity is obtained.

SOLUTION: When the gradient elution analysis of A and B liquids is to be made in this liquid chromatograph having a gradient liquid-feeding mechanism for feeding liquid by mixing the mobile phase liquid that is supplied, for example, from four channels, both the liquids A and B are supplied using each two channels, by utilizing an empty channel effectively for controlling, so that the total flow rate of the two channels where the same type of liquid flows follows a specific gradient program, thus dispersing a load per channel and, for example, preventing the capacity of the deaerator from decreasing, even in a large flow rate and restraining the generation of bubbles and the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent spectrophotometer, in which sensitivity can be maintained stably by appropriately correcting the quantity of fluorescence, even if there is cleterioration in an optical element for generating excitation light. SOLUTION: A data storage part 64 stores a conversion table 65, for indicating the relationship between excitation wavelength and stray light ratio. Based on the conversion table 65, a data-processing 63 obtains, as the quantity of contrast light, a quantity which is obtained by subtracting the quantity equivalent to stray light caused by the lighting of a light source 11 from the quantity of light obtained, based on the strength of a signal that is outputted from a contrast photodetector 34. By correcting the strength of the output signal of a fluorescence detector 54 an using the true quantity of contrast light being obtained in this manner, appropriate quantity of fluorescence that is not affected by the stray light is obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate filling or displacing for a mobile phase without increasing cost.
SOLUTION: When a signal for filling or displacing of a mobile phase is fed to a control part 40 from an outside, a valve 26 is switched to connect a passage from a pump part 2 to a sampling needle 36 via a sampling loop 24, and the sampling needle 36 is moved to a drain port 38. A passage of a mobile phase container 16 → a pump 10 → the selector valve 26 → the sampling loop 24 → the sampling needle 36 → the drain port 38 is thus constituted. The pump 10 is driven with a high speed in the passage condition hereinbefore. The passage from an inside of the pump 10 upto the sampling needle 36 is thereby filled or displaced speedily with the desirable mobile phase.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the S/N ratio of an ultraviolet visible absorbance detector. SOLUTION: A spectrally diffracted slit image 57 in a direction perpendicular to a spectrum dispersion direction which contains a sample-cell incident-side cell window 47 and a hole incident port 53 for reference is formed by an optical system. Since a hole 51 for reference is expanded to a direction perpendicular to the spectrum dispersion direction as compared with a conventional technique, the throughput of light inside the hole 51 for reference is increased, and an absorbance noise which is caused by the hole 51 for reference can be reduced. As a result, the noise of a detector can be reduced as a whole, and the S/N ratio of the detector can be enhanced. In addition, since the monochromaticity of light which is shone at a sample cell and at the hole 51 for reference is not spoiled, the offset property of the sample cell/the hole 51 for reference is not degraded.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a spectrophotometer to conduct high-sensitivity analyses without being affected by a change in ambient temperature by forming a reflection type diffraction grating as a resin replica having such a structure that a closed space is formed on the surface side and an air layer is enclosed in the space. CONSTITUTION:After a spacer 20 made of an insulator is stuck to the periphery of the surface 10a of a diffraction grating 10 on which grooves are formed as a resin replica, a transparent quartz plate 22 is stuck to the surface 10a with the spacer 20 in between. Consequently, a closed space is formed on the surface side of the grating 10 of the surface 10a of the grating 10, spacer 20, and quartz plate 22 and an air layer is enclosed in the space. As a result, the responding time until the wavelength shifts after receiving the influence of a change in ambient temperature becomes slower. In addition, the base line hardly changes during several tens of minutes required by liquid chromatography for measurement even when the detection is performed in a moving phase or at a wavelength having a large sample absorbing inclination. Therefore, this spectrophotometer can make high-sensitivity analyses without being affected by a change in ambient temperature.
