Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the editing work with high accuracy without shifting an editing point by making the reproducing pausing state of a recording side VTR presently under the recording pausing state by pressing player key at the time of editing and confirming a reproducing picture of the recording side VTR without operating a shuttle key. CONSTITUTION:The subject device is capable of recording a video and audio signals in forming slant tracks on a magnetic tape 10 or reproducing the video and audio signals recorded on the magnetic tape 10. In this VTR, the recording side VTR is made to be capable of changing the recording pausing state to the reproducing pausing state by pressing only the player key 18b.
