Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily confirm the dealing of a broadcasting station to a position after preset by immediately setting the most practical channel preset for a user without any complicated operation. CONSTITUTION: The automatic channel preset electronic equipment is provided with an area data ROM 13 in which a reception enable channel, position number for tuning that channel and broadcasting station name data are stored as area data for each prescribed area range. Then, the broadcasting channels of tuning data stored in a preset memory 14 are successively compared with the broadcasting channels of area data and when both the channels are matched, the tuning data in the preset memory part are reloaded with the matched area data. After the preset, the position number and the broadcasting station name corresponding to the channel under tuning are displayed.

CONSTITUTION: In the signal system for a video equipment, a function synthesizing an identification index signal comprising characters of its equipment name generated based on identification index data with a video signal together with a display position designation signal on a screen is provided to the equipment. When a character tuner 60 having the function, a VTR 80 and an LD 90 or the like are connected to an external input terminal IN of a television receiver 55, an equipment name corresponding to the video image on the screen of the receiver 55 is displayed simultaneously on the screen to allow the user to grasp a video supply source clearly. In the case of channel selection by a teletext tuner, a U/V tuner 54 built in the television receiver is clearly discriminated. Thus, the user operates a video display motor without misunderstanding it to be a video signal supply device.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a monitored display in the normal mode from being interrupted by not detecting a wide mode ID at an input of a video signal and selecting the wide mode when a wide ID is detected in the case of reception of an S signal in which a luminance signal and a chrominance signal are separated. CONSTITUTION:When a signal inputted from an AV switch 1 is a composite video signal, it is detected by a microcomputer 7, a wide mode ID is not detected but the operation in the normal mode continues and a monitored display on a CRT 6 is executed with an aspect ratio of 4:3. When the input signal is an S signal, a wide ID is detected by the microcomputer 7, a video processor 2 and a scan processor 3 are controlled by the microcomputer 7 at the detection of the wide ID to switch the display of the CRT 6 with a switched aspect ratio of 16:9 in the wide mode. Thus, the display in the normal mode whose aspect ratio is 4:3 continues without being interrupted in mistake even at the input of the S signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To discriminate the presence of an abnormality in a digital processing system and its location by extracting data in a prescribed pattern video signal at a prescribed location of a digital signal processing means and comparing the data with data of a storage means corresponding to the location. CONSTITUTION:A video signal of a prescribed pattern from a pattern generator 16 is fed to a processor 5, in which the signal is A/D-converted and an RGB signal obtained by a prescribed processing is outputted to a drive 8. In this case, the processor 5 extracts a video signal at each test point provided in each digital processing stage and feeds it to a controller 14, and required data corresponding to it are read from a RAM 15 and compared. The RAM 15 stores video data at each test point to be obtained in advance from the pattern video signal. When the both are mutually equal, it is discriminated to be no fault. Thus, if any fault takes place, the fault processing stage is immediately used for discrimination.

A video signal whose aspect ratio is 4:3 is inputted after application of power, and when the special aspect ratio mode is selected, a video image is displayed on a display area whose aspect ratio is 4:3 by using part of a display screen whose aspect ratio is 16:9 and the display position is shifted with respect to a preceding display position.
