PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change an operation of a data transmission unit in conformity to a digital I/F of a connected external device by determining the digital I/F of the connected external device by a circuit.SOLUTION: A control unit 123 of a sink device 120 includes a determining unit 124. The determining unit 124 determines, for example, whether a source device 110 is connected to the sink device 120 and whether the digital I/F of the data transmission unit 112 in the source device 110 conforms to an HDMI standard or a new standard. The control unit 123 changes the operation of a data reception unit 122 in conformity to the digital I/F of the data transmission unit 112 in the source device 110, based on a result of discrimination by the discrimination unit 124 when the data reception unit 122 conforms to the digital I/F of the HDMI standard and the new standard. A connector unit for connecting an external device that operates with the digital I/F of the HDMI and new standards can be used, to have advantages in cost and space.

PURPOSE: To display a subtitle with priority when broadcast of the subtitle is started by a teletext multiplex broadcast program without the adoption of a large-sized receiver. CONSTITUTION: When a switch 6 is thrown to the position of a terminal (b) connecting to a tuner 3 for teletext multiplex broadcast program reception, a microcomputer 12 throws the switch 6 to the position of a terminal (a) connecting to a tuner 2 for receiving television broadcast periodically. While the switch 6 is thrown to the position of the terminal (a), a decoder 7 detects whether or not data of a teletext multiplex broadcast program superimposed on a video signal outputted from the tuner 2 are subtitle data. When the decoder 7 detects the subtitle data, the switch 6 is thrown to the position of the terminal (a) forcibly and the decoder 7 decodes the subtitle data.

PURPOSE:To provide the remote controller for selecting a function corresponding to the skill degree of a user. CONSTITUTION:A display part is formed in the shape of a matrix from symbols A1-A5 to symbols G1-G5, when that display part is touched, that touch is detected and corresponding to the touch detected result, low-level, middle-level and high-level functions are selected. Then, corresponding to the detected class, the display part formed in the shape of the matrix displays a control function adaptive for that class. The function of a control part is changed corresponding to this display as well and when a part showing the displayed function is touched, the function selected by that touch is selected.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a signal processor which is capable of generating a deviation in the output timings of a caption and voice as necessary, raising the understanding efficiency of a user and improving operabibity. CONSTITUTION:In a video equipment outputting video, voice and the caption according to voice, either one of voice and the caption is made to be outputted by delaying the one for the other, using a delay circuit 16 for voice delay and a delay circuit for caption delay.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To widen the dynamic range of a luminance and to make the difference of a contrast clear by applying half blanking by an YM (half blanking) function to an entire picture so as to reduce a luminance level of the picture. CONSTITUTION:When half blanking processing to execute menu display by characters or the like is implemented to a video signal, a control signal to set the display position of a character or the like to an H level is outputted from a CPU 9, the YM function is set by the display position only and blanking control is applied. A video processor 4 is controlled so that the gain of the processor 4 is reduced for a period when the control signal is at an H level while the YM function is set. As a result, the outputted video signal is outputted in a waveform subjected to half blanking processing for the H level period. Thus, video display suitable for viewing a movie or the like is obtained.

PURPOSE:To display each character legibly in an excellent way and to prevent visual confirmation of a displayed video image from being deteriorated even when plural many number of characters are displayed. CONSTITUTION:A video controller displaying various characters 12b, 13b superimposingly onto a video image on a display screen 4a of a cathode ray tube 4 prevents the overlapping of displayed characters 12b, 13b by displaying the displayed characters 12b, 13b on a different display position from the display position when the displayed characters 12b, 13b are displayed singly when it is discriminated that the displayed characters 12b, 13b are overlapped with each other.

PURPOSE:To prevent a state in which the video signal of a source selected in a mode in which the kind of the input source is not displayed is not supplied, from being mistaken for the state of a power source OFF. CONSTITUTION:At the time of switching the input source from a laser disk to an 8mm video tape recorder, when the mode in which the kind of the input source is not displayed is set, the video signal from the laser disk is switched to the video signal of the 8mm video tape recorder. Also, when the video signal of the 8mm video tape recorder is not outputted, the character of 'video 1' is displayed on a screen at the time of the lapse of 3 seconds after the switching operation.

CONSTITUTION:The functional devices like a video process circuit 33, an audio process circuit 37, etc., function when the control data are received from a system controller 41 connected to an electronic equipment via an I bus. At the same time, the controller 41 discriminates the fault of each functional device in each control cycle where the control data are sent to all functional devices. Then the fault discriminating results are displayed at one time in a self- diagnostic mode.

CONSTITUTION:A PSK demodulator 25 detects an encode state of a channel selected by a BS tuner 23, for instance, the scrumble state of a MUSE signal or PCM sound signal. A system roller 41 controls an AV switch 32 so that a picture may be displayed on a cathode-ray tube 36 by selecting one of each color television signal from a VHF/UHF tuner 12, a video processing circuit 24, a MUSE down converter and a JSB decoder 52 based on the detection result, and sound may be outputted from a speaker 38 by selecting one of each sound signal from the VHF/UHF tuner 12, a D/A converter 26, the MUSE down converter, the JSB decoder 52 and a CS decoder 53.
