Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve repetitive durability by reducing the wear of a record medium having a substrate made of a resin and a head slider as far as possible. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk 1 is constituted by forming at least a recording layer on the disk substrate consisting of the resin material and is subjected to recording and/or reproducing of information signals by the head slider having a recording and reproducing element. The magnetic disk 1 has an information recording region 2 where the recording and/or reproducing of the information signals is executed by the head slider in a floating state at the time of rotation and a contact region 3 where the head slider comes into contact at the time of stopping. Prescribed rugged patterns regularly arrayed with projecting parts are formed in the contact region 3. The area occupied by these projecting parts is 0.8 to 5.75% of the area over the entire part of the contact region.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sturdy structure which is hardly affected by the vibration from the outside, and a good vibration characteristic, by forming a substrate by injection molding of a metallic material. SOLUTION: The disk substrate 2 of a magnetic disk 1 consists of the metallic material and is formed by injection molding. Magnetic films 3 are respectively deposited on both main surfaces thereof. The material adequate for injection molding is required to be relatively small in thermal conductivity. Since magnesium is smaller than the thermal conductivity of aluminum, the magnesium is more adequate for the injection molding than the aluminum. The magnesium has a smaller density than the density of the aluminum and is, therefore, light in mass if the shapes are the same, by which the reduction of the weight is made possible. The disk substrate is made of the metal in such a manner, by which the hardness is sufficiently assured and the strength is exceedingly improved. Consequently, the structure which is hardly affected by the vibration from the outside is obtd. Namely, a resonance frequency is made higher and the disk substrate which hardly resonates against the vibration from the outside is obtd.

SOLUTION: This mold 10 is used for the disk which is formed with the region for recording information on its surface and is formed with pit arrays of a projecting shape for contact of the head slider to its inner peripheral part or outer peripheral part. In such a case, the region for forming the information recording region described above and the rugged shapes 11a for molding the pit arrays are formed on a molding surface 11a in such a manner that the respectively average heights thereof are made flush with each other.

Then, the disk shape and the projected bit line are formed simultaneously, and the height of the data recording/reproducing zone 33B and the mean height surface 19 of the CSS zone 33A formed by the pit are constituted so as to become the same height.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect all over the projection on a magnetic recording medium by transferring a slider and detecting the projection with each projection sensor in the vicinity of both side surfaces. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk 1 is set on a rotating disk 112. The rotating disk 112 is rotated at a prescribed number of revolution with a rotation controller 113. A transferring stage 121 is transferred with a stage controller 125 so that the projection sensor positions in the inner peripheral edge of the disk 1. When the projection detecting sensor positions in the inner peripheral edge of the disk 1, the projection sensor is switched with the signal switching means of a signal processing circuit 1 30 to transfer the transferring stage 121 in the outer peripheral direction. A projection detecting signal is amplified with a signal amplifying circuit 131 and compared with the magnitude of a slice level signal with a signal comparing circuit 132. When the detecting signal is larger, the projection detecting signal is larger, the projection detecting signal is displayed on a displaying device 142 via a data output circuit 134.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable one and the same magnetic disc apparatus to cope with read only and reprogrammable magnetic discs, keeping constant the amount of floating of a head slider by adjusting a ratio of the projected area and recessed area in the data area and stepped position within a read only and reprogrammable magnetic discs. SOLUTION: A load capacity which is a parameter of the amount of floating of a head slider in a read only magnetic disc where the recessed area and projected area for parallel and vertical data track DT and guard band GB to the traveling direction of the head slider are mixed and the reprogrammable magnetic disc where the recessed area and projected area for parallel data zone and servo zone are provided is determined by a ratio and the recessed area and projected area and the stepped area. Therefore, a ratio of the stepped area of the recessed and projected areas of both discs is set to 0.65 to 1.0 and the ratio of the recessed area and projected area is adjusted. Thereby the amount of floating of head slider can be kept constant. Accordingly, the read only or reprogrammable disc can be used and stable reproduction can also be realized.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the magnetic disk capable of suppressing fluctuation in a floating amt. of a magnetic head on the magnetic disk by providing a control signal recording area based on a projected length of a head slider. SOLUTION: A substrate of the magnetic disk 3 is formed with a data zone as a data recording area and a servo zone as the control signal recording area in a radial pattern respectively. Then, an array of the servo zones or a part of the array is arranged in every projected length of a floating head slider mounted with a magnetic head for recording and reproducing data, etc., on the magnetic disk 3. By this constitution, when the head slider is moved from the data zone to the servo zone or vice versa, fluctuation in the floating ant. of the head slider can be suppressed, and hence recording and reproducing of data, etc., can stably be carried out. As to the servo zone, more than one or two servo zones are desirable to be arranged in the projected length of the head slider.
