Abstract: 15,074. Stewart, J. July 3. Producers.-A grate for a gas-producer of the water-bottom type, and consisting of a rotating or oscillating hollow cylinder dipping into the water bosh and having central air or steam admission, is mounted eccentrically or otherwise so constructed that its rotation causes agitation of the fuel, this being assisted by projections or claws on the grate surface. The hollow air &c. trunnions are provided with water-sealed glands. Fig. 2 shows an horizontal elevation and Fig. 5 a detailed cross-section. The grate surface may be formed of readily detachable sections F secured to an independent inner body or frame. The claws Q may also be detachable, and are then formed on half hoops which secure them in place and serve to strengthen the grate. The grate may be of circular, square, fluted, or other symmetrical section, or of cam or other non - symmetrical section.
