Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the permeability of a magnetic head by providing an action gap formed to a conductive magnetic core with a nonmagnetic conductor and a means which flows a current to the magnetic core across the action gap. CONSTITUTION:A conductive magnetic core 7 is energized by a power supply 9, and a current (i) flows as shown by an arrow head along the magnetic path of the core 7 and across an action magnetic gap (g). Thus the uniaxial anisotropy is produced in the direction orthogonal to the current (i), i.e., the magnetic path of an artificial ring shape. Thus the permeability of the core 7 is improved at a high frequency band together with the reproduction sensitivity of a head. While the direction of the uniaxial anisotropy can be changed with control of the current value when the core 7 is energized as long as said anisotropy is previously provided to the core 7 in the prescribed direction, i.e., the circumferential direction of said artificial ring. This improves the reproduction sensitivity of the head at an optional frequency band.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To cause no magnetic deterioration in a core due to joining of the core and a reinforcing body, by placing the reinforcing body between amorphous magnetic thin film cores and fusion-bonding the reinforcing body and the thin film core into one body by a solder of a low melting point. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing body is placed on both surfaces, of amorphous magnetic thin film cores 3a, 3b placed inbetween, and this thin film core and the reinforcing body are joined by a solder 7 of a solder a low melting point. The low melting solder whose melting point is 123 deg.C or 143 deg.C is used. In this case, if there is a problem in an adhesive property of this low melting point solder and the amorphous magnetic thin film core, or an dhesive peroperty of this low melting point solder and the reinforcing body, a material component of this thin film, for instance, a non-magnetic layer of a spatteringing film of Si, or a non-magnetic layer made by spattering, etc. of SiO2 is stuck to the surface of the thin film core, and in the reinforcing body side, too, an amorphous non- magnetic layer can be formed by spattering in the same way as necessary.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head in which the bonding strength of core members and the corrosion resistance of a head core are improved, by forming a surface layer made of Ni, Cr, Cu or Ti on the surface of each core member and laminating the core members with lamination. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous ferromagnetic alloy of an amorphous ferromagnetic alloy material, e.g. Fe-Co-Si-B system is formed in ribbon shape, and a core member 2 of a specified shape is formed from an amorphous ribbon 1. In a head core of a magnetic head, a plurality of punched core members 2a, 2b and 2c are formed with lamination. On the surface of each core member 2, one or more types of Ni, Cr, Cu and Ti are attached to the surface of the core member 2 as the surface layer 3 with plating, vapor-deposition or sputtering. After forming the surface layer 3 on the surface of each core member, the core members 2a, 2b and 2c are laminated and bonded with an adhesive 5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of magnetic fluxes by the interposing of a non- magnetic insulating film and to improve the recording and reproducing outputs by making the film thickness of the non-magnetic insulating film, which is provided between the magnetic film made of Ni-Fe alloy plating film and the magnetic film having a high saturation flux density, to be less than a specific in and also making the thickness to be less than a specific ratio of the interval of a magnetic gap. SOLUTION: A thin film magnetic head 1 is made of a gap film 7, which is facing against the surface of a magnetic recording medium, and a non-magnetic layer 4, which is made of a flat layer 8 surrounding a conductive coil 5, and are formed on a lower layer core 3 of substrate 2. On top of them, a top layer core 6 is formed by forming a first magnetic film 9, a non-magnetic insulating film 10 and a second magnetic film 11 in that order. Note that the saturation magnetic flux density of the film 9 is made higher than that of the film 11. Moreover, the film thickness of the film 10 is made less than 50 nm and is set to be less than 1/10 of the film thickness of a gap film 7 which constitutes of the magnetic gap. Thus, the magnetic domain of the core 6 is made stable, the eddy current loss is reduced, the leakage of magnetic fluxes is suppressed and good recording and reproducing outputs are obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the reproduced output by setting both of the end face shapes of the front end electrode and rear end electrode on the magneto-sensitive part side of an MR element at 45 deg. with a direction perpendicular to an ABS surface and paralleling the end faces of these electrodes with each other CONSTITUTION: The MR element 5 is formed, for example, as a nearly rectangular pattern in its plane shape and is so disposed that its longitudinal direction is perpendicular to the ABS surface 7. The MR element 5 consists of ferromagnetic material film of, for example, 'Permalloy (R)', etc., and is formed by a vacuum thin film forming means, such as vapor depositing or sputtering, via an insulating film 8 functioning as a lower gap film on a lower shielding magnetic material 1. The front end electrode 3 is directly laminated on the front end of the MR element 5 in such a manner that its one side edge faces the ABS surface 7. This electrode is electrically connected to the MR element 6. Both of the end face shapes of the front end electrode 3 and rear end electrode 4 on the magnetosensitive side of the MR element 5 are set at 45 deg. with the direction perpendicular to the ABS surface 7 and the end faces of these electrodes 3, 4 are paralleled with each other.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To use a plating liquid for several times by adding specified amts. of succinic acid and sodium tetraborate to a sulfamic acid-base Fe-Ni alloy plating liquid. CONSTITUTION:The plating liquid is prepared by adding 6-55g/l succinic acid and 0.8-8g/l sodium tetraborate to a plating liquid in which at least an iron (II) salt, nickel salt, and sulfamate are dissolved. This plating liquid is used for electrolytic plating of a magnetic head. The succinic acid and sodium tetraborate give an excellent buffer effect to suppress change in pH in accordance will precipitation of metal salt. Thereby, even when the liquid is used for several times, Fe-Ni alloy films of uniform iron compsn. are precipitated. Thus, a thin film magnetic head having uniform electromagnetic conversion characteristics can be obtd. and the production yield of the thin film magnetic head is improved.

This resist layer 18 is exposed and developed according to the outside shape of an upper layer magnetic body 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily output depth and to highly precisely restrict depth. CONSTITUTION:At the time of grinding a head block 1 where a thin film magnetic head element is formed till a prescribed depth position, first resist patterns which are provided by covering a lower magnetic body and which restrict a depth zero position, and second resist patterns 10 provided by covering conductors till the prescribed depth position are simultaneously formed by the same mask. Depth sensors 4 are formed by removing the conductor exposed to the tip parts 10a of the patterns 10, and voltage is impressed between the sensors 4. Then, grinding is executed by pressing the tip-side of front gap parts onto a grinding machine 17 as a lower surface so as to execute grinding. Then, grinding is terminated when current flows between the depth sensors 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To arrange magnetic domains having uniaxial anisotropy in a track width direction in the track part of a magnetic core formed on a band-shaped hydrophobic region nearly parallel with this direction by forming the above- mentioned region on the front surface of a plating underlying film. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic head is formed with the magnetic core 3 via the plating underlying film 2. The core 3 is formed thinly in the band-shaped hydrophobic region 1a formed on the surface of the film 2 as the plating hardly sticks thereto. The core is thickly formed in the region 11b which is not hydrophobic. This region 11a is formed by applying a resist on, for example, the film 2 and forming a resist layer 11 nearly parallel with the track width direction in the position corresponding to the point where the core 3 is formed, then removing the layer 11 and forming this region in the region where there was the layer 11. The projecting parts 13a of a 'Permalloy(R)' film 13 to be formed on the film 2 parallels nearly with the track width direction.
