    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a laminated polyester film useful as a base film for magnetic recording media which has excellent scratching resistance and traveling durability in spite of repetitive use and meets requires for enhancement of image quality. CONSTITUTION:The polyester film (B) contg. 0.2 to 8wt.% inert particles having a weight average particle size 0.1 to 2.0mum in polyester is laminated on at least one surface of the polyester film (A) having a thickness 3mum.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a biaxially oriented polyester film for magnetic tapes low in defects such as dropout and head plug by reducing whiskers formed on the slitted surface during film slitting, by controlling the surface orientation coefficient, the density and the crystal size to have a specified relationship. CONSTITUTION:A polyester film which is a biaxially oriented polyester film comprising at least 95mol.% polyethylene terephthalate and satisfies the relationship among the surface orientation coefficient, the density and the crystal size: surface orientation coefficient >19.6-3.5log A. The surface orientation coefficient is represented by formula 1, wherein nMD is the refractive index along the machine direction, nTD is the refractive index along the transverse direction and nZD is the refractive index along the direction of thickness.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film improved in abrasion resistance and running stability, by using a composition obtained by adding specified non-incorporated particles depositing in a reaction system and a surface-roughening agent to a polymer based on a polyester. CONSTITUTION:A composition is obtained by adding non-incorporated particles depositing in a reaction system (A), average particle diameter of 0.3-3mu, containing at least 1 part of at least one element selected from among 0.005-0.025wt% Li, 0.01-0.04wt% Ca, 0.02-0.05wt% P and 0.02-0.04wt% Sb and 0.005-0.2wt% inorganic inert incorporated particles (B) (e.g., TiO2) of an average particle diameter of 0.1-3mu as a surface-roughening agent to a polyester based on an aromatic dibasic acid ester containing at least 80mol%, based on the main repeating units, ethylene terephthalate units. This composition is formed into a sheet, and this sheet is biaxially oriented to obtain a biaxially oriented polyester film for magnetic tapes on at least either surface of which fine protrusions of a parameter of distribution (PD value) >=0.5 are formed.
