SOLUTION: The reverse osmosis separator is provided with a first reverse osmosis membrane module M0, a second reverse osmosis membrane module M1, a supplying line L1 for supplying a concentrated liquid 6b obtained from the first reverse osmosis membrane module M0 to the second reverse osmosis membrane module M1, a pump P1 provided at the supplying line L1 and for pressurizing and supplying the concentrated liquid 6b to the second reverse osmosis membrane module M1 and a repairing agent supplying means 7 for supplying the repairing agent for repairing the reverse osmosis membrane in the second reverse osmosis membrane module.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To most adequately execute the production and operation of a plant by predicting the membrane transfer parameter indicting the membrane performance of a reverse osmosis membrane from the actually measured value of the operation parameter of a reverse osmosis membrane plant in accordance with the concentration polarization equation derived from a concentration polarization model and determining operating conditions in accordance with the predicted value. SOLUTION: In the reverse osmosis membrane (RO) plant, the solvent in a permeated material is permeated through the RO membrane by a pressure difference and the solute is permeated through the RO membrane by a concentration difference. In such a case, a mass transfer coefficient k is determined according to a mass transfer correlation equation (Sh=a.Reb.Scc) indicating the relation between a Sherwood number Sh, Reynolds number Re and Schmidt number Sc. The mass transfer coefficient k is substituted in the concentration polarization equation derived from the concentration polarization model in accordance with the material balance of the solute permeation, by which a membrane surface concentration Cm is determined. Next, the memberane transfer parameter expressing the membrane performance of the reverse osmosis membrane is predicted from the actually measured value of the operation parameter of the reverse osmosis membrane plant and the operation conditions of the plant are determined from the predicted value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively sterilize a membrane separating a raw water and surely pre vent the lowering of separation performance of the membrane due to the deposition of a scale by using a sulfuric acid and lowering the pH of the raw water and adding a scale deposition preventing agent into the raw water. SOLUTION: The membrane separation device is used for coast sea water in general, and a pretreatment device 9 comprising a water separation device, namely a sodium hypochlorite injection device 6, a ferric chloride injection device 7 and a sand filter 1, a sodium bisulfite injection device 8 and the like and a membrane separation device 10 comprising a scale prevention agent injection means 4, a sulfuric acid injection means 5, a boosting pump 2 and a membrane module 3 with a polyamide reverse osmosis element connected thereto are operated, and the desalination treatment is carried out. Namely, a sodium hexamethaphosphate is added into the sea water, and sulfuric acid is added into the seat water to adjust the pH at least to 4 or less. The difference of pressure and the fluctuation of separation performance at an outlet and an inlet of the membrane module 3 can be eliminated securely and the sea water can be sterilized effectively by the sodium hypochlorite by the arrangement.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of performance in the initial stage of operation in the case where a separation membrane is dipped in a raw water tank to separate the component in the raw water supplied from a raw water supply means by providing a water supply means for dipping the membrane in a liq. lower in concn. than the raw water. SOLUTION: The raw water is supplied to a raw water tank 1 by a raw water supply means 3, and water is supplied by a water supply means 4. A separation membrane 2 is dipped in the raw water tank 1 so that an intermembrane differential pressure necessary for the separation is obtained by the difference between the liq. level in the tank and the level of the outlet 5 of the water permeated through the membrane 2. Since the raw water to be separated is high in concn., a cleaning means 7 is preferably furnished. Water is supplied to the raw water tank 1 by the water supply means 4 to make the liq. concn. in the tank lower than the concn. of the raw water supplied by the means 3, the membrane 2 is dipped in the raw water tank 1 kept at a low concn. or in the water to obtain a permeated water, then the separator is started, and the lowering of performance is suppressed in the initial stage of operation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make fresh water from seawater in high yield by a reduced quantity of energy by providing a reverse osmosis separation apparatus with a high pressure pump raising the pressure of raw water and a conc. water storage tank storing conc. water of a first reverse osmosis membrane unit to supply the same as raw water to be treated of a second reverse osmosis membrane unit. SOLUTION: Pretreated seawater is supplied to a high pressure pump 1 from a pipeline 5 to be supplied to a reverse osmosis membrane module 3. Conc. water 11 of the reverse osmosis membrane module 3 is supplied to an energy recovery device 14 to be utilized in the recovery of the energy of the high pressure pump 1 and stored in a conc. water storage tank 7 in a pressure released state. Conc. water 11 is next pressurized by a high pressure pump 2 to be supplied to a reverse osmosis membrane module 4. Conc. water of the reverse osmosis membrane module 4 is sent to energy recovery devices 15, 14 to be subjected to the recovery of energy before discharged. The permeated solns. 10, 13 obtained in the respective reverse osmosis membrane modules 3, 4 are stored in a permeated water tank 9 through a decarbonating column 8 to be used as drinking water.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a high conversion ratio of NOx over a long period of time in an apparatus for treating engine exhaust gas by arranging a particle- removing filter in the upper part of an exhaust system, a unit for removing water in the exhaust gas in the middle part, and a zeolite catalyst in the lower part. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for treating engine exhaust gas, a particle removing filter 2 is arranged in the upper part of an exhaust system, a unit 4 for removing water in the exhaust gas is arranged in the middle part, and a zeolite catalyst 6 is arranged in the lower part, respectively. A water vapor separation membrane is preferably used for the water removing unit 4. In this way, the water content in the exhaust gas discharged from the water removing unit 4 is low enough so that the zeolite catalyst is not deactivated by water. Since the amount of a reducing component necessary for removing NOx does not change even after passing through the water removing unit, NOx can be removed efficiently. Particles in the exhaust gas can be removed efficiently by using the filter 2 so that the conversion efficiency of NOx does not drop for a long time.

CONSTITUTION:Al2O3 powder of 5-50mum average particle size as a base is mixed with such an amt. of TiO2 powder that 0.2-12wt.% Al2TiO5 is formed when the TiO2 powder reacts with the Al2O3 powder at the time of sintering and the mixture is dried, pulverized and calcined at 1,150-1,500 deg.C. The resulting calcined powder is mixed with 10-30wt.% ZrO2 powder of 1.5-5mum average particle size contg. 1.5-5mol% solubilized Y2O3 and the mixture is pulverized, molded and sintered at 1,300-1,800 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere, e.g., in the air to obtain Al2O3-ZrO2 ceramics suitable for use as the structural material of various guides, a pump or various sliding members such as bearings.
