    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtrain an excellent S/N ratio, in a biaxially oriented laminated film having a laminated structure consisting of at least three or more layers, by adding particles having a specific particle size range with respect to the thickness of the outermost layer to the outermost layer at least on the single surface of the film and specifying the number of projections and heat shrinkage factor of the surface of the film. CONSTITUTION:In a biaxially oriented laminated film having a laminated structure consisting of at least three or more layers at least one of which is biaxially oriented, particles such as silica particles are added to the outermost layer at least on the single surface of the film. In this case, the relation of 0.2d -2X10 /mm and the heat shrinkage factor of the surface of the film is 1.5% or less. For example, the particles are added to a polyester film by polymerizing a slurry prepared by dispersing the particles in ethylene glycol with a dicarboxylic acid component.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain excellent slipperiness, abrasion resistance and electromagnetic conversion characteristics by a method wherein non-round soft particles having low strength are included and, at the same time, highly dense surface projections having even height are formed. CONSTITUTION:The film concerned has the lamination structure consisting of two or more layers. At least one side outermost layer part contains particles, the particle diameter ratio of each of which is 1.1-10 and the strength of each of which under 10% deformation is 10kgf/mm or less. The relative standard deviation of the distribution of the height of the surface projections of the film due to the particle is 1.0 or less and the number of the projections is 5,000/mm or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve electromagnetic converting characteristics without incorporating any particle and while excellent high speed grinding characteristics are exhibited by dispersing a liq. crystal polyester with extremely high affinity with a base material polyester in the outermost surface layer of the thin layer. CONSTITUTION:A liq. crystal polyester means a product which melts at a molding temp. of a base material polyester and is dispersed in a film in a spherical shape to act for forming surface projections in substituting for incorporated particles. As the loading ratio, it is necessary to incorporate 5-30 pts.wt. liq. crystal polyester to 70-99.5 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester and it is required that the diameter d of the dispersion of the liq. crystal polyester in the film layer is 0.05-5mum and the relative standard deviation of this diameter d of the dispersion is 1.2 or smaller. In addition, it is necessary that the ratio d/t of the diameter d of the dispersion of the liq. crystal polyester to the lamination thickness t of the layer incorporated with the liq. crystal polyester is 0.05 or larger and 5 or smaller. The relative standard deviation of the distribution of the height of the projection on the surface of the outermost surface layer is 1.2 or smaller.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve both high-speed travelling and the difficulty to damaging (the flaw of a magnetic surface) of the magnetic surface by containing a specific quantity of inactive grains and bringing a void, grain flatness in a film, film mean grain size and the projection flatness of a projection formed to the surface of the film to specific values in the inactive grains. CONSTITUTION:0.005-5wt.% inactive grains are contained. The inactive grains have a 30-80% void, 1.5-5 grain flatness in a film and mean grain size of 0.01-3mum in the film. The projection flatness of a projection formed to the surface of the film is 0.02-0.2. A bent type biaxial kneading extruder is used as a method, in which inactive grains are included in specified polyester. A method, in which master pellets having high concentration are diluted on film formation, is employed as a method, in which the content of grains is adjusted. Polyester is dried sufficiently, fed to a melt extruder, passed through a high-accuracy filter, melt-extruded from a slitty mouthpiece, and cooled and solidified, thus manufacturing a film not oriented. The film not oriented is biaxially oriented, and biaxially orientated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film having a high resistance to high-speed scratching and suffering little degradation even in a high-speed dubbing by incorporating a specified amt. of CaCO3 comprising ellipsoidal particles having a specified flatness and a specified mean diameter and specifying the thickness orientation index. CONSTITUTION:A polyester film which contains 0.002-10wt.% powdered CaCO3 comprising ellipsoidal particles having a flatness in the film of higher than 1.5 and lower than 10 and a mean diameter of 0.01-5mum and in which the thickness orientation index is 1.2 or lower is prepd. The film has a high resistance to high-speed scratching during film processing or in the use as a final product, shows excellent high-speed dubbing properties when used as a magnetic tape, and hence is useful as a base film for a magnetic recording medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve the video tape cassette that is superior in both dropout resistance and traveling property by making a guide pin out of a specified material and structuring a video tape with a base film containing specified particles. CONSTITUTION:The guide pin is in the video tape cassette, and is in contact with the video tape on its nonmagnetic surface side. In this case, the guide pin is made of resin, and the video tape contains organic particles in its base film. Thus, by making the guide pin out of a specified material and structuring the video tape with its base film containing specified particles, no abrasion takes place on the guide pin and the base film with each other, and the video tape cassette having superior in drop-out resistance and traveling properties can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the scratch resistance of the surface and the abrasion resistance to chipping or the like by forming a biaxially oriented polyester film containing internally deposited particles and inert particles specified in a mean particle diameter, a Mohs hardness and a content. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film containing internally deposited particles and inert particles A, wherein the particle A has a mean primary particle diameter of 0.002-0.25mu, a Mohs hardness >=7 and a content of 0.02-5wt.%. The polyester has at least one kind of a structure selected from among units of ethylene terephthalate, ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy) ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate and ethylene 2,6-naphthalate as the main structural component. A polyester having ethylene terephthalate units as the principal structural component is particularly desirable because of its better scratch resistance.
