    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a desired surface form capable of suppressing the formation of voids, capable of densely forming hardly cut surface projections and enhanced in surface running durability. CONSTITUTION:A polyester film is a biaxially oriented film based on polyester A and characterized by that the number of projections of at least one surface thereof is 5X10 /mm or more and the ratio (NR) of the number of projections/ the number of particles being the ratio of the number of projections and the number of the particles contained in the surface layer on the film is 5 or more and the average height of projections is 0.01-0.8mum.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a laminated film adapted to be used for a magnetic tape in which polyester A layers laminated on both side surfaces of a polyester B layer can be formed of the same polyester A and simultaneously front and rear surfaces can be formed of surface states having desired cutting resistances, image quality, etc. CONSTITUTION:A laminated film comprises A layers each containing polyester A as a main ingredient and laminated on both side surfaces of a B layer containing polyester B as a main ingredient, wherein A1 of surface roughness of the one A layer is 0.2-20nm and A2 of surface roughness of the other A layer is 5-50nm, and A1 is smaller than A2, and a method for manufacturing the same is provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve traveling properties and protrusion breaking strength, to improve adhesiveness with a magnetic layer and to reduce a decrease in picture quality of a biaxially oriented laminated film by forming the film in a laminated structure of three or more layers, incorporating special particles in an outermost layer of its one side surface, and simultaneously processing means such as specifying crystallinity of the outermost layer. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented laminated film is formed of a laminated structure of at least three or more layers. In this case, particles are contained at least in an outermost layer of its one side surface of the film. The relationship between a mean particle size (d) (mum) of the particle and a thickness(t) of the outermost layer is so set as to satisfy 0.2d -2X10 /mm . Further, the outermost layer of at least one side surface is set to lower crystallinity than that of an intermediate layer. Thus, fine protrusions on the surface of the film are optimized to improve traveling properties and protrusion breaking strength, adhesiveness with a magnetic layer at the time of using it as a magnetic medium is improved, and a decrease in picture quality is reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the recording medium which is high in S/N and is less degraded in S/N by repetitive traveling by forming the ruggedness on the surface of a magnetic layer mainly of recesses. CONSTITUTION:The ruggedness on the surface of the magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium provided with the coating type magnetic layer on at least one surface of a base material film consists mainly of the recesses. Namely, the ruggedness on the surface of the magnetic layer is required to consist mainly of the recesses. The degradation in the S/N is large and such is undesirable if the ruggedness consists mainly of projections. The surface form of the magnetic layer is easily obtainable; in addition, the higher S/N is obtd. and the degradation in the S/N is additionally lessened and, therefore, such is preferable, if the thickness of the magnetic layer is kept within a 0.5 to 5mum range. The wear resistance is improved while the generation of noises is suppressed to a low level.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To satisfy both characteristics of the durability and tracking resistance characteristics by using a thermoplastic resin contg. particles and specifying the relation between the size of the particles and the thickness of the films, the contents, the thickness of the films, and coefft. of moisture expansion, etc. CONSTITUTION:This video floppy consists of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film and the magnetic layer. The biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film includes a film layer A essentially consisting of the thermoplastic resin A and the particles and having 0.005 to 3mum thickness. The average diameter of the particles incorporated into the film layer A is 0.2 to 10 times the thickness of the film layer A. The durability and tracking resistance characteristic are inferior if this range is exceeded. The content of the particles is 0.5 to 30wt.%. The durability and drop-out characteristic are inferior if this range is exceeded. Further, the coefft. of moisture expansion in the arbitrary direction within the plane of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film is specified to a /% RH range. The tracking resistance is inferior if this range is exceeded.
