    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film having a high resistance to high-speed scratching and suffering little degradation even in a high-speed dubbing by incorporating a specified amt. of CaCO3 comprising ellipsoidal particles having a specified flatness and a specified mean diameter and specifying the thickness orientation index. CONSTITUTION:A polyester film which contains 0.002-10wt.% powdered CaCO3 comprising ellipsoidal particles having a flatness in the film of higher than 1.5 and lower than 10 and a mean diameter of 0.01-5mum and in which the thickness orientation index is 1.2 or lower is prepd. The film has a high resistance to high-speed scratching during film processing or in the use as a final product, shows excellent high-speed dubbing properties when used as a magnetic tape, and hence is useful as a base film for a magnetic recording medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve the video tape cassette that is superior in both dropout resistance and traveling property by making a guide pin out of a specified material and structuring a video tape with a base film containing specified particles. CONSTITUTION:The guide pin is in the video tape cassette, and is in contact with the video tape on its nonmagnetic surface side. In this case, the guide pin is made of resin, and the video tape contains organic particles in its base film. Thus, by making the guide pin out of a specified material and structuring the video tape with its base film containing specified particles, no abrasion takes place on the guide pin and the base film with each other, and the video tape cassette having superior in drop-out resistance and traveling properties can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the scratch resistance of the surface and the abrasion resistance to chipping or the like by forming a biaxially oriented polyester film containing internally deposited particles and inert particles specified in a mean particle diameter, a Mohs hardness and a content. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented polyester film containing internally deposited particles and inert particles A, wherein the particle A has a mean primary particle diameter of 0.002-0.25mu, a Mohs hardness >=7 and a content of 0.02-5wt.%. The polyester has at least one kind of a structure selected from among units of ethylene terephthalate, ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy) ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate and ethylene 2,6-naphthalate as the main structural component. A polyester having ethylene terephthalate units as the principal structural component is particularly desirable because of its better scratch resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject film containing specific amounts of two specific kinds of particles, having excellent scratch resistance and abrasion resistance and suitable as a base film for magnetic tape, packaging film and film for various industrial materials. CONSTITUTION:The objective film contains two kinds of particles A and B. The particle A has an average particle diameter of 5-300nm and its content in the film is 0.1-2wt.%.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented polyester film with excellent scratch resistance and shaving resistance of the film surface by using a specified amt. of rutile titanium dioxide particles with a specified particle shape. CONSTITUTION:This biaxially oriented polyester film contains 0.05-5wt.% rutile titanium dioxide particle with an average particle diameter of 0.05-2mum and a sphericity coefficient of 0.8-1. It is pref. that the degree of flatness of the surface projection of said polyester film is 7-16, because the scratch resistance and shaving resistance are improved thereby. It is pref. that ethylene terephthalate is a main constituting component as the polyester film, because the slipperiness, scratch resistance and shaving resistance of the film are further improved thereby.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the scratch resistance and dubbing resistance by specifying the distribution of the heights of surface protrusions and the crystalline index according to total reflection Raman spectroscopy of the film surface in specified ranges by using WO3 particles of a mean particle diameter in a specified range.
